I dont just mean musically, there are many form of art of course...whether it be in ure music, poetry ,writing or painting/drawing....has Prince or his music influenced ure work in some way?
I've always loved to draw....I dont think Im brilliant or anything, far from it but every now and then, when I draw or paint something (few and far between these days) a Prince influence will creep in on me darn the man!!!
For example, I finished this yesterday....I dont know how that thing in the cloud got there....

Great colorz.....Yes...I have made quite a few things with Prince's inspiration...I painted a cloud guitar on Christmas day...It's okay...I don't paint often however because of the expense of the oils...

Prince has inspired a lot of poetry within me...and I make clay guitars, that are inspired by Prince's music...They are cute. I sell them once in awhile, however, I tend to give them away.

A lot of that inspiration came early on, actually.
I was putting down my impressions of him as an artist and person from the very little that I knew... and it evolved in2 a bit of a novel
At the time, I was also taking a writing class (nature writing, but regardless) and the writing styles I was learning were put in2 that. The two combined, it's probably one of my best works out of the 7 I've written since high school.
ironically, the number 7 just came up.

And poetically, he has. And still is, though I haven't written anything in over a month.

In some way, I think Prince has inspired all of us, but those who are artists of different "trades" are among the most lucky if his music has inspired our work as it has.

I like to write poems and draw etc.... I listen to Prince alot when I do this so I have several things that have been influenced by the music/lyrics that I was hearing at that time. He is an inspiration to me in alot of ways. I am so glad that he shares his soul with all that wish to see it.

Yes. I'm a writer and the bad boy Prince of yore definitely inspired/influenced me artistically.

My thoughts and by extension my fiction is very edgy -- just a natural outgrowth of my personality.

When I was a kid, I felt comforted in my counter-convention nature because Prince was so great as a subversive, revolutionary icon that sort of gave me exhortations from the shadows.

That Prince has died of course.

He is a follower and a panderer now. As an artist I spit on that. I reject that. He left me. How dare he curse the crowd and then follow it. Fuck you.

Art is about the Artist's choice to express it.

Sex is beautiful...However, some people distort it's beauty when they misinterpret someone's art.

Age is a factor...We grow to appreciate true unions. Romance is beautiful...Sex is easy.

Art is what I said it's about and so much more. WTF.

One of the first threads I ever wrote on here was about how P influenced the way I dressed and wore my hair when I was in Jr. High and high school. P is one of my major influences as a musician. He's influenced the way I play guitar, bass, keyboards and drums. As a songwriter, a producer and as a performer. He's not my only influence of course, I have several. But Prince is one of them. P's impact on me was deep because I was so young when it happened. I was already very hipped to Parliament Funkadelic, Bowie, Zeppelin, The Beatles, Sly, KISS, Sabbath, Queen and so forth before P had even come out. So that gave me an inside track to understanding really what P was doing. Musically and visually. I understood his influences because I dug the same ones too. But because P was so much younger than all of these cats, me being a kid, I related to Prince more. He was basically an updated Hendrix so I dug that to death. In Jr. High, I patterened myself visually to Hendrix and prince. Always that combo. Dez and Jesse both influenced the way I dressed and wore my hair as well. For me, I blended Hendrix, Prince, Dez and Jesse all at the same time. Visually, in Jr. high and high school, I echoed all of them in some way or another. I think I still do. Visually, it was never a stretch because it was a natural resemblence of Jimi and Jesse from the get go. But yeah, P influenced me. Sure.
