I still don't understand veganism or vegetarianism. If God didn't make cows, chickens, pigs, and fish for eating purposes, than what else would we do with them? They would over-populate the earth and the dead and rotting ones would cause disease to spead. Plus, it's no different from killing a head of lettuce or ripping a head of broccoli from it's roots to me. Vegetables are alive too, but once it's ripped from it's life source, steamed, and put on a plate, it's no longer alive...that broccoli died for them, just as much as that cow died for me. I don't agree with raising minks in small, overpopulated cages, but that's not going to make me stop eating meat...I just won't buy a fur coat. I won't buy a diamond ring either, because of blood diamonds...someone's child died for a shiny rock, which I find to be ridulous, but I'm sure there are vegans and vegetarians who will sport a diamond ring without even thinking about whether it's a duty-free diamond or not. I've met too many vegans who have more respect for animals than for people which is ignorant because humans are animals too.

This is exactly the same way I feel about the whole issue.
You can ask any doctor and they will all tell you that neither of these two diets are healthy, because meat has riboflavin, something that the body needs, so if you don't eat meat, you probably have to take some good old man-made vitamins, which is just as bad if not worse than just eating the meat. I am an omnivore and at the top of the food chain, that is how God made me. I'm sure the lion doesn't feel bad when it eats the baby gazelle, so why should I? shrug They don't call it the circle of life for nothing.

I've been a vegetarian for 8 years and I don't eat meat because I really don't want to eat flesh, blood, muscle, skin, ligaments and things of the like.

When I was young I was always disturbed by what I was eating, but being a vegetarian didn't "make sense" to anyone in my family, so I was forced to continue eating meat although I hated the very thought. so I pushed away thinking about what I was eating and continued to eat all sorts of meats until I finally woke up one day and knew I was through eating the stuff for good.

People thought it would never last, but I don't miss it at all and I AM healthy. My blood work / yearly physical always amazes my doctor and she tells me to keep doing what I'm doing.

When I was a meat eater, I used to get debilitating migraines, that used to cause blurry vision and paralysis on one side of my body, the face, neck, arm & hand. Doctors thought I had a brain tumor but fortunately MRI's showed nothing, no doctor could explain why this would happen to me. Since I have stopped eating meat I have not had a single one of those migraines. What a miracle! I tell doctors and they say: "I don't know, it's strange you don't get them anymore".

They don't want to admit all the bad things that are found in our food supply, not just in meat (ie. growth hormones, antibiotics, etc. although there's always Organic Farm Raised alternatives) but in the entire food supply found in your regular supermarkets. If you read labels, you get scared because most food products do not contain good, wholesome foods, but man-made ingredients and preservatives for long shelf life.

It's all quite scary, but I don't impose my vegetarianism on anyone, everyone I know eats meat - everyone has the right to do what they want. I wear leather and I sell animal products in my business, so I am a contradiction really - although I don't eat meat because I don't like to eat flesh, not because of killing animals (although cruelty to animals in terrible) you can kill them as food if you wish.

btw, I believe you are referring to "CONFLICT FREE DIAMONDS" not "DUTY FREE DIAMONDS". Duty Free is when you don't pay the tax at the airport when traveling abroad.

That's cool .

About a year ago I stopped eating pork and beef(still having some trouble letting go of my chicken lol ), anyway people said my new diet wouldn't last but look at how long i've gone without eating pork or beef. And when i tell people that i don't eat that stuff they go, "What, a teenager who doesn't eat pork OR beef? ,SHOCKING !" And i'm thinking, why is it shocking that i want to be healthy? shrug

"In january he ate a "creamy" risotto im Miami."

In earlier threads/posts I also read that he eats 'plenty of pasta', 'mashed potatoes', 'scrambled eggs',...

What I really 'd like to know is how on earth does he manage to have/keep such a slim & firm body like his?!.. especially while eating potatoes, creamed rice dishes, etc.
And I don't believe it's all thanks to the dancing on stage. First, he doesn't dance so much these days and he is still slim, and secondly, me too I dance! [weekends in clubs, + gym, etc.]

The times when I successfully decreased my weight [to below 50 kg], I ended up feeling weak and tired. The thing with Prince is that his slender frame and little sleep regime [I've heard] don't seem to affect his energy levels and generally his capacity to work. In short, he is very slim but [I assume] he is healthy and feels good.
Being very thin is a problem imo once you start feeling bad/sick because of it.
So my question is: how on earth does it do it??

I mean, it's a mystery to me!

He would be the biggest hypocrite in the world if he personally would be against killing animals, but is making $$$ with selling it to other people.

To make a risotto "creamy" you usually use dairy products like cheese and cream.

Really? I was wondering myself some days ago.

But don't they need milk and eggs to make lots of things? Like pasta, bread, even to make mashed potatoes... or would they use soy milk for him.

I would think for the energy he uses he must need a very good replacement. But he probably has a good cook serving him the best legumes/vegetables/nuts available.

Without the fish, meat, milk, egg yellow, sleep etc I would have a serious anaemia.

I read an article in the daily mirror or sun that he and madonna are taking vitamin b12 injections for energy.

I don't know that many people who moderate on something because it makes them ill. It's mostly the other way around.
People who should watch what they eat because they have certain allergies/intolerances or serious disorders etc mostly don't do that. They say "oh no, I don't want to miss pleasant things, I want to enjoy" they rather like to become very ill or die sooner then adjusting themselves to what their body tells them to. Well enjoy I would say...

Ugh, talk about speaking without any knowledge at all. "Gods" didn't create shit, there is no moral equivalence between killing sentient beings with central nervous systems and plants, riboflavin/B2 is a nutrient found in leafy greens, soya beans, yeast and almonds and as others have stated the cause you claim to care so much about is "Conflict free diamonds" not "duty free".

Apart from that... lol

chillichocaholic, your apathy, is, bleh...

Actually it has everything to do with it, Vegans do not purchase leather, it's not just a simple dietary choice but an ideological one, based on the premise that animals are not property to own or be used as commodity for the interests of profit.

Vegans believe that animals have intrinsic value, that the life of a living, feeling, emotional being should not be reduced to the whims of capitalist desire, that the treatment afforded to them should be one of respect, the pleasure an animal seeks will not be found in the slaughter house, the factory farm or the end of a rifle.

Vegans believe in social justice for all, and that crimes of violence and patriarchy are further intrenched by the eating and wearing of animals, that nothing less than the abolition of the property status of animals will achieve this.

Prince was vegan, he was a lot of things, he used to be libertarian too, my how things change!
