I was the youngest in 1979, at almost 13 years old...so most of Prince's followers...were probably at least 5 years older than I, and most could have been in their twenties. I believe so...I spent the next four years waiting to meet him when I figured out how 2...My first shot.

Then I tried to run into Prince a couple of more times at two different concerts...but that didn't work out...Security was telling me to walk one hundred feet in front of Prince's bus...and I did, and as I turned around, I could see Prince's ass walking to the back of the bus....Smoooothee. So I went home...thinking in my heart, that it was okay...I was just mad at myself for freezin' my butt off in the snow, and missing the last 7 songs of the concert...All because I wanted to say Hi, hand Prince a rose, and say goodbye. Nope! No roses...was the understatement of the attitude hands. I thought well, I could at least lay it on the ground by the bus door....Nope...It was thrown in the garbage 4 feet from the bus. They were mean, but that's okay...I went home happy, just to have been 30 feet away. Prince never looked back. I think he was trying to be respectful.

I pulled the rose out of the garbage can, and brought the rose home. It's around here somewhere...dried out.

I became a fan in 1979 and I was 12. We weren't the first though because Prince came out in 1978. Prince's first fan was probably someone in a Minneapolis audience when he was in his group Champaigne.
