I didn't mean to be rude, but the influence of god seems pretty obvious. He's thanked god on all of his albums, way before Larry G's influence. He wrote a song called God in '84, and he's had several spiritually based albums.

It's more of a general life influence, rather than a musical one, like James Brown or Jimi Hendrix's influence, though.

I was totally surprised that my significant other never noticed the spirituality in Prince's music. There are so many examples that I started pointing them out and he told I was reaching but agreed there could be double meaning. So I played "The Word" and asked him what he thought it was about. I understand how someone can miss it, but I find it truly amazing. Even my favorite song (Adore) has the duality.

God and P were kewl until the subject of side projects came up.

God was very pleased with the positive efforts of Maurice White with Pockets. Deniece Williams and The Emotions. So he decided to put two acts together.

“Saints and Sinners”. This was to be a band featuring stars from the fifties. Dion. Chuck Berry. Jerry Lee Lewis, and others.

The original front man was going to be Elvis but Tom Parker wanted too much money so Little Richard was to be the front man.

At one point in the show Richard yells “Somebody bring me a Bible” and Jerry Falwell would come out and hold it up and do dance steps with the band.

The other project was a girl group.

This group was going to have ladies from different backgrounds and they would all alternate on singing lead.

He got a fiery lady from the University of Denver named Condi Rice.

She wanted to be the Diana Ross of the group but she would be put in the background with a Howdy Dowdy doll.

He found in Arkansas a street tough rock and roll singer named Hillary Rodham. He put her in charge of rehearsals.

But he needed another singer who had that “look” to put up front. It couldn’t be Soul and it couldn’t be Pop.

She had to have a look like a real life pussycat doll.

He met Nancy Pelosi (Then known as Nancy D’ Alesandro.) Her good looks and charm made her a great choice to lead the group.

But God got behind schedule with Reagan and The Pope getting shot.

And Jesus went off on this one guy who tried to get into heaven. “Bigger than me? I’m Jesus B****! F*** The Beatles”.

So God had to keep an eye on him.

Prince kind of ran with the idea.

I don't think, that telling my brother, that God will smile on him is going to far...that's what the love of a sister does.

God should sue Prince for copyright violation.

Then again, Prince probably would think he's suing himself.
