If prince was more of a "Bono" kinda artist..

If Prince was more of a "Bono" kinda artist, ie, instead of the religious stuff he'd be more political and more concerned with the world issues, like poverty, the african debt etc
How do u think would that affect his music and your views on Prince?
Do u think that Prince would be respected in the same that Bono is these days? Or do u think that Prince would mix the politics up with religion anyway?
Just an idea...

Probably, but I'd hate him cause U-2 is just not Interesting anymore. Too Political and the music from the beginning was way better than now. Plus it's the same old Sound which is Boring as Hell!

Prince can't be all things...
He is, first and foremost, a musician.
In his personal life, religion is very
important.
Politics never seemed to interest him, so
i don't think he should mess with the
subject.

BTW, is U2 the most overblown act of all time?
"Joshua Tree" was good, but they haven't
compelled me to buy anything since.
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Prince is much more respected than Bono is. Maybe not by the ignorant general public. But by those who how much talent Prince has and how much he has done 4 music.

I think Bono has a gift, and a purpose. Much respect to him for his compassion.

I think Prince was to egocentric in his earlier days to focus on anything but himself.

Luckily he changed into a pretty decent man..

I admire Bono's engagement in worldly issues. I think the idea of a rock star who uses his fame to spread his opinions on political issues and to make a difference is fabulous.

The discussion on his artistic abilities are a completely different story. U2 is a good rock band, but imho they are not groundbreaking or exciting at all. Prince is a great artist.

If you could mix Bono's engagement with Prince's artistic talent, you'd get an explosive cocktail. But things are just the way they are now aren't they? Bono reaches a big public and Prince, well, Prince is just a musical genius.

I dont know why some people wait for celebrities to tell them how to think anyway. In Bono's case he's only respected politically because of the image he has created for himself over the years. He's no more better than any other celebrity that supposedly is some important 'policial mind'. All they can do is talk and put money behind their talk (if they want to), like anyone else who puts money where their mouth is.

did u here him speak about third world debt on Oprah? the man obviously knows what he speaks..knows enough to have been invited to a one on one meeting with Dubya on the issue...and as he pointed out during Oprah, this isnt something he wants to do. He speaks on these causes cause nobody else will...He is begging for politicians or other citizens to take up the cause...

thats a far more noble cause then b*tching about not being #1 in the bank!!!

I have heard Bono speak on many things, I don't watch Oprah. Good for him, he's not the only celebrity that knows what's going on and if he pointed out it's not something he wants to do I question why he even brought it up, to make himself look good? Big deal he can sit down with a fool like Bush. And it doesnt seem like you know what bragging is instead of bitching.

sorry dude, but eye'm gonna have 2 go w/ bono on this one. this has nothing 2 do with their talent. the fact that Bono is DOING something with his power is awesome, and he really does it 4 the cause not cuz his agent/PR person told him it would look good on his resume, or to get publicity, or pat himself on the back. BONO GETS MORE RESPECT 4ROM ME IN THAT ASPECT.

You're talking about talent, some are talking about being conspicuously political by performing all the altruistic duties in front of cameras, just like their interviews, videos and concerts on tv so the world can know exactly what every person with a public career is doing with regard to social/political activities. Every public person is supposed to have the skills and acumen to know how to do this, don't you know? There are no other successful methods of altrusim except for this method, don't you know? It can't possibly be happening at any extent without cameras rolling and their faces in front of them, don't you know?
