Does Prince give a FU*K about you?

Faced with an ever decreasing fan base is it not the case that the only way Prince can make his money is to charge the few a lot more...be it for the club or concert tix?

By restriciting his commercial exposure to the public, i.e. majority of cds and merchandise sold through the web site -- the burden of supporting his lifestyle rests on his loyal fans.

Is it plain old greed?

Should we just appreciate the musical genius that he is, and forget the person he has become?

If WB stepped on Prince, why's he steppin' on us?

i wonder why people always focus on prince's 'greed' when there are a lot of other artists that make a whole lotta more money than he does off their fans...

..read the recent rollingstone interview with tom petty..he makes a lot of good points about the business in general as well as the greed of artists...

..as for prince's so-called greed, none of my other musical heros have opened their studio to me for a week, played a full concert with an opening act ev'ry nite for 7 for less than the amount it would cost to attend 3 concerts by most major acts...

again..if you don't agree with what prince gives you for the money he asks, don't give him your money..very simple...if you feel it's wrong, don't support it..

Oh,God! Listen, enough with the crap about what he charges at his concerts or on the NPGMC. If you are a Fan you wanna See him Perform. This is His Price. Prince is not Cheap. Concerts are Expensive nowadays for sure. This is just the way it is unfortunately. I'd Rather pay the price he charges than not see him Perform wouldn't you?

Also.. I would rather pay a bit more and go to an intimate concert, rather than pay half the price and attend a 5000 people concert where you perhaps are able to see the top of his hair far far faaar away...

I'd just like to testify, for whatever it is worth to folks who've had a different experience. I went to see an ONA show last spring, and paid $125. It was nearly a 3 hour show and the talent on stage was nothing short of amazing. To see a show like this is like being a part of history, and I personally think the ticket price was reasonable. However, that is relative.
After the show he put on an entirely new, different and separate show at a club down the street, for $30. It lasted from 12am to 3am, was longer than the show he had just performed 1/2hour earlier, and was equally as entertaining, if not moreso. The club was tiny, intimate and so close it was almost surreal. In reality, the people that couldn't afford the $125 ticket but could afford the $30 aftershow ticket, were a part of something that not many people will be able to claim when this is all said and done, when Prince is a memory and a legend.
He played 6 hours straight. He played a 3 hour show, for us, not only for free, but out of his own pocket. Maybe it's not like this all the time, maybe it can't be. but he gives a fuck. He was like family that night.

he doesn't.
paying 100 dollars or more for a show
doesn't make sense.

he pays no respect
for the few people still
supporting him.

beyond this, he is and remains the best musician ever.

When I take into account that he has let fans pay him 30-40 $ for an afterparty where he didn't show up then yeah...I am afraid it has got to do with love for money or otherwise with a hole in his hand...Prince needs to keep buying mansions you know.

I think it never has been anything really different. The only difference was that Warner used to hand him his paycheck and the fans provided Warner with their paycheck. Now it is the fans who pay Prince directly. It's just that they have to do this with a 300-400%inflation in the price.

Ahh well... you should see it from the poor perpsective of the independent artist... because you know... when you have a small business your overhead is so high you would need to triple your income to survive, right? Positive thinking! It's easy!

Its funny to notice that the more people receive, the greedier they get... Anyone know of ANY other artist who lets their fans attend soundchecks? Free or not...? Who give out 6 hour performances in one night? Look around folks! I'm sorry but after what I heard last night in Paris, I say 100$ is cheap... And I certainly hope he is buying himself a new house with my money, he definetly deserves it...

the 100$ Paris show was worth every cent

Let's see it this way: the money we save now that Prince doesnt release 12"s, picture discs, cassingles, multiple cd singls anymore, we can spend it for tickets...
cheers

You are wrong. It is the love of money that is the root of all evil or the lack of money can be the root of all evil. When people do not have access to money you really start to see some foul shit.

I have said this numerous times before but, I will say it again all of the tickets on this tour are not $100.00. I paid $50.00 for my tickets. You do not have to buy the most expensive ticket that is being sold.
In addition, the Rolling Stones are out on the road charging $300.00 a ticket. I don't see anyone bitching about there prices or the fact that have not had a hit record within the last ten years. I guess it is o.k for a white rock group to run their business as they see fit.
It is the law of supply and demand people. If there was no demand for the tickets Prince would not be charging the high prices. He would be a fool not to charge whatever he could get away with. He puts on a incredible show and as long as he is doing that I will get going to see him.

Maybe he doesn't give a f*** about his fans, he sure gives a f*** about there money.

I will never become a member of npgmc.
Asking 100$ and no cd in the mailbox.
70$ for the concert somewhere in the back.

But in Antwerp, I heard him loud and clearly sing "I ain't got YOUR money" instead of "I ain't got no money" in the song "I wanna be your lover".

I gotta agree with Natasha! Didn't y'all hear what he said at the Celebration? He said that he's been called alot of things over the years, but one thing no one could ever call him was UNGRATEFUL! I really believe that he deeply appreciates all the support his real fans give to him. When he saw me and my buddy at the show in Oberhausen, the surprised look in his eyes as he looked directly into mine seemed to say, "What are you guys doing here?!" He knew we were fans from Chicago because he had seen us enuff times at Paisley Park parties. We traveled a great distance to see him and I think that really touched him. So when he did his finale song "Days of Wild" in Oberhausen, he told Candy Dulfer bring me & my friend on stage! Me, my buddy April and Prince... the 3 of us on stage Workin' It!!

Say what you want about the Brotha not giving a @*#!. no no no! I'ma hafta beg to differ with ya!!
