Even if you got a 1,000 people on here to agree - where do you think that would get into the charts ?

actually with the state of the 'pop' industry and the charts in this country hed probably make a number one with only a thousand, years ago musicians had to sell hundreds of million to get top spot now they only sell a few thousand its appalling. Youll never get the airplay in the UK of Princes music. It so da lead that the playlists are on repeat for bout six moths of the year.

And anyhow which chart would you like to see him top?

it a nice idea but unworkable here I dont think hed like any of the old warners ones promoted as he doesnt own them and i think hes made that quite clear how they capitalise in on him.

I was thinking bigger than just org members, that's why I mentioned setting up a website dedicated to the cause and getting some Prince friendly radio DJs involved. I'm sure we all have friends that we could encourage to join in too. A 1000 people from this website would be brilliant, but I would see that as the tip of the iceberg.

I am leaning towards the suggestions that people have made about making it a post-Warners song and iTunes has only 3 to choose from as someone has already mentioned.

It doesn't hurt to try.

Isn't Chris Moyles (Radio 1) a big fan?

THIS is what people devote their energy to? People, there are serious social issues that need your attention.

Listen to Prince in your free time and leave it at that.

I am happy. I'm amused at the lengths to which some people will go for a recording artist.

Hey, I do charity work, give donations and raise funds and awareness for local and nation organisations.

If I want to do something a bit more lighthearted once in a while thats my choice.

Surely a bit of fun in this grim world is a good thing biggrin

I do, and I didn't mean to suggest that others don't. I was being a bit facetious in my original post, but I just mean that this is a pretty pointless cause to put any kind of effort into.

1.) It won't work
2.) It's Prince's job
3.) Prince doesn't deserve it after his recent conduct
4.) It won't work
5.) It won't work

Thanks for your input! Feel free to say I told you so after 7pm on June 8th when the charts have been broadcast for that week.

I think it's a really nice idea, and I reckon the radio stations would pick up on it after last summer. I'm hearing quite a bit of Prince in public places these days!

Anyway this news story says Gnarls Barkley made it to #1 on on-line sales only by selling 31,000 copies....

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/h...872228.stm

Are there 31,000 folks out there willing to buy Black Sweat off itunes????
You might not like the taste but I'm still gonna stick your face in this FUNK

Sounds like a nice idea.

A good way to promote it will be a facebook group. Get enough members, and you'll quickly see if you have enough !

Be interesting to see if a fanbase of any artist can manipulate the charts like this. I'd assume that there's a lot of "fixing" going on to stop this sort of thing!
