Damn... If I would have known that, I wouldn't have bothered to go.

I think they were kidding - the truth is there's a lot of Princey things to see there. first avenue, paisley park, all kinds of stuff

First Avenue, The Quest(formerly Glam Slam), Paisley Park, Prince's torn down house, Bunkers, Lake Of The Isles, Calhoun Square, Uptown(and the former NPG Store), North Minneapolis(keep your doors locked and your windows rolled up), Roller Gardens(Prince's hangout back in the day), Purple Rain film house(between 34rd and 35th and Snelling, west side of the street)...
Some clubs have Prince themed nights, I'm not sure which. Have fun. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

It's definitely cool to see that stuff - just don't eat there. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

the only one who's missing in Minneapolis is Prince himself

Does Prince even maintain a Minneapolis residence anymore? Seems like he spends all his time in L.A.

Good question... since he told Oprah he would "always live in Minneapolis"... ..."think from a positive place, and eliminate the negative fate"...

Some clubs have Prince themed nights, I'm not sure which. Have fun. The Northside comment is funny... Is the house from Purple Rain still up? It's over off of Snelling??? I did not know that... Uptown is fun in the summer...I use to love to come down to MPLS back in the day (I live here now) and go to his store in Uptown. I got Michael Bland (diamonds and Pearls drummer) autograph one day when I was in there. He was in there talking to the cashier and I came up behind him and tapped his shoulder and said hey...(I was only like 14 at the time). He turned around and said "Oh dang, I thought you were Prince the way you came up behind me." He signed the NPG magazine with Prince on the cover with his arms crossed and doing the gun symbol. Don't forget about 7 corners where Graffiti Bridge was filmed / based off of. There was also a bridge that the movie was based off...I have a picture of me standing next to it when I was like 6 or 7. I'm am pretty sure it is still there but the giant purple rain painting of him is gone...I am sure. Prime aka The Kid

Do you (or anyone) really think P would get rid of Paisley Park? Prime aka The Kid

It's between Minnehaha and Dight Ave's. Dight Ave. is basically an alley, and some scenes with Morris and Apples were shot there, but didn't make it to the film. Go to Google Maps here: http://maps.google.com/ma...olis%20map Then copy and paste this: 3400 Snelling Ave, Minneapolis, Hennepin, Minnesota 55406, United States Then click on Arrow/Street View(just found out about this cool little feature) and rotate to SW heading. The house is not visible because of trees, but it's on the right side of the street, about three houses in... might gotta squint. I think that there might be a wheel-chair accessibility ramp attached to the front porch now. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Lake Minnetonka...Don't forget to purify yourself!! Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.

Funny, even Lake Minnetonka in the movie is really Lake Susan (I've been told, it could be any lake for all I know). Not much of Prince left here in ol Mpls. Nice to see the Park but it looks so empty from my perspective. I'll miss those Paisley shows, wow they were amazing. Time waits for no one huh? I've been there twice, once for three days (to check it off my to-do in life list), the other for five (part of a trip that included NYC). The longer you stay the more you find out why MPLS is the "best kept secrets" league - I hope to go back there again in the next couple years.

Cool. I'll have to check into all this stuff.
I may take you up on that offer, Violett..

Do you (or anyone) really think P would get rid of Paisley Park? Honestly, I think so. I live in Minneapolis and have traveled by his studios thousands of time in the last 8 years to be precise. Chanhassen has grown rapidly and what used to be a nice and quiet neighborhood is now a threat to his privacy (music related or not). Prince hasn't given any concert since February 2006(the afterparty following Tamar's concert with the Dr. Mambo) If he has, please forgive my not knowing of any other event since the later date. What do you think?.

What do you think?. I remember going there when I was young in 1987 and there was nothing but PP, his house and corn fields...go there now...wow. I was surprised when I went there in 2001 because of everything around...I thought I was lost.... Prime aka The Kid
