PRINCE WORST ALBUM SURVIVOR ROUND 2

After Round one we have the following, It was a close race. From the start it seemed I had clearly boo booed with The Rainbow Children, but there was a fight over Planet Earth and come. PE had an early edge, but Comes supporters came out at night, to the point of taking over.

So what I will do is eliminate both of them, and invite voting for whats left, AND.... WITH the added proviso that you all nominate a maverick album to take a nomination on the list. For example say you vote on NEWS and add Purple Rain to the list.

Chaos and disorder
N.E.W.S.
New Power Soul
Planet Earth
Graffiti Bridge
Rave until the Joy Fantastic
Old friends for sale (The Vault)
Emancipation

So choose one thats left and one to add to the list, both the album that gets mercy and the new dud will be announced in 24 hours time

Results so far

10. Rainbow children (Mercy 8 votes)
9. Come (Mercy 6 votes)

Other voted for albums Planet Earth, The Vault and Chaos and Disorder. Also negative one for Newpowersoul which was doubly condemned by two people

Please also haters and detractores, spare your vitriol for another thread, I got 23 votes in one day, I am sure thats proof enough this thread is reasonably popular. It will be interesting to see what the org thinks the worst album he made was.

Onece again: let's not ignore the obvious and waste time beating a dead horse to death...

king Winner of the most fucktard album Prince every made: New Power Soul (no dramatic drum-roll required)

Before burying this turkey for eternity, lets salvage the near-perfect The One, and the other 2 rays of light that are suffering in NPS's ocean of blandness: Come On & Wasted kisses (hell even Until Ure In My Arms Again deserves to be on a less-crap album than this) - and we'll replace those 4 with 4 other putrid NPS-type-levels-of-shite tracks that unfathomably made their ways onto better albums: Wedding Feast, Graffiti Bridge, My Little Pill, Life Of The Party. 4 pieces of shite that deserve to be buried on and with this disaster of blandness.

R.I.P. tombstone

Wipe and Flush tp toilet

There, it is done... wink

next...

No way Emancipation should be on the list. It's long, but there is at least one cds worth of good material on there.

I haven't listened to any of these, because people keep telling me not to buy them razz But I would say N.E.W.S. for the pure fact that I like real songs with hooks, and P's sexy voice.

Vote one of the albums off the list, as the one thats worth saving

Then a choose an album not on the list that is your personal worst sounding album by Prince in your opinion

save emancipation

get rid of planet earth and new power soul (not a prince album anyway)
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Save Graffiti Bridge, a really STRONG album (we all know the movie sucks), but c'mon, GB has true classics...

Save Graffiti Bridge.

Nothing from the WB years should really be on this list. However, the watered-down, hook-free, R&B lite that is Musicology should be right at the top. wink

This is getting tough....

I'd like to save both Graffiti Bridge AND Emancipation using the logic that both have a good single CD in there somewhere.

If pushed I'm going for GB though as Elephants & Flowers and Tick, Tick Bang make me smile every time.

My wildcard to ditch is Musicology, despite the fact that I love the title track, as every other song on there stinks the joint out....

r u still with the ridiculous notion that because he's on a album cover it's automatically a prince album instead of who a album is credited 2? if that's the case here's another one 4 ya: take any cover by led zepplin, there r no pictures of any of the band members on the album, so if zepplin I has a cover a blimp, should it b truly credited 2 the goodyear blimp or zepplin?

lol Okay, Okay. If you didn't know that NPS was credited to "The New Power Generation" and someone showed you the album cover and asked "Who's new album is this?" what would you say? Of course you'd answer "Prince". There's a reason Prince put HIS picture on the cover and not his band. So who is the Black Album credited to? There's no name or picture on it yet we ALL know it to be a "Prince" album right?

Get rid of N.E.W.S. Unrequited shite. I own it as a completist but it has never been played! (Yes, I have listened to it before anyone comments)

Keep Graffiti if only for Morris Day and the odd track.

I think you should put Rainbow Children back in. There's experimental and then there's 'Should leave in the vault' lol

Erm, you've dug yourself a hole here.

By your logic that you've explained here and on the Round 1 thread, Emancipation shouldn't be considered a Prince album either as it's attributed to prince .

Make your mind up.

Prince used the NPG moniker to release New Power Soul just as he used the prince moniker to release Emancipation. Both Prince albums under pseudonyms.

Now there's a generalisation.

Planet Earth is by far the shittiest album Prince ever released.
All his other 'bad' albums have at least some good songs on them, PE has none.
It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.
