So many albums .......

Spent the morning listening to 'Diamonds and Pearls', haven't listened to this album in a long time.

Completly forgot what a classic album this is. I've spent the last few months listening to Sign o' the Times, Batman, New Power Soul (my favourite), 3121 and Planet Earth.

That's what I love about Prince 'So many albums to choose from that it almost feels like a new experience when you bring some of the old albums out'

I'm lovin' it music
so, what is the answer 2 the question of U

Isn't it great how much there is? I have decided to listen to all his CD's in order. I started with "For you" and have made it up to "1999" right now. It's interesting to hear the change from album to album.
Making love and music are the only things worth fighting for.

This is just a loose comment I didn't feel like starting a thread on....
Last night I was chatting with a musician that had worked with Kenny Rogers, and several other country artist's as a bassist...and we were discussing Prince's vocal range...I believe Prince could span eight octaves' and He had said, that it was ten...One higher and One lower...

Does anyone know?

I'm no great musician or scientist but like time travel, i believe that isn't possible.

That's what's so incredible about Prince. There is just so much we've gotten already. It's a beautiful thing and a major reason why I still roll with Prince after all these years. nod
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I found an old thread. http://prince.org/msg/7/180086
I'm not sure if there is an exacte answer. I would like to know as well. A piano only has what 7 right? 88 keys?
(An octave has 8 letters. i.e. ABCDEFGA, it is A to A and including the
flats and sharps it actually has 13 keys. Sharps and flats are the
black keys. For instance, A sharp and B flat are the same black key.
The octave beginning with C also ends with C making it CDEFGABC.
C sharp is D flat. F sharp is G flat and so on. A sharp is the key up
and a flat is the key down. An octave goes from one letter to the next
same letter up or down. Flats and sharps are still either ABCDEFG.
Anyone who knows music knows the flats and sharps are included when you
say the one octave, namely ABCDEFGA.)

confused Personally I think the material from Emancipation to Planet Earth sounds all the same, theres no creation like the early stuff. Listening to everything from Dirty Mind to Lovesexy is a real seismic shift though, Its like the progress of the day, the lusty heavy breathing dawn of Dirty mind, the morning glory of Controversy, the mid morning glow of 1999, the midday zenith of Purple Rain, early afternoon slow period of ATWIAD and the driving afternoon funk of Parade, the golden late afternoon that is SOT and the pale dusk of the black album and Lovesexy.
Then on theres the twilight of Batman and Grafitti Bridge, after that its all a long dark night that refuses to end, Moonlights include Come, Emancipation and Muiscology/3121 was a false dawn. razz
