where are the people (extras) from Purple Rain?

Inspired by were you at the recording..but I've always wanted to know this. Where are some of the people who were at the concert scenes filming that were extras? They must have been Prince freaks too--how come they arent part of the online Prince community? Or have some already spoken up?

I know a couple people in mpls who were extras, but they lead 'normal' lives now. Of course, they're about Prince's age or older, so it makes sense.
I don't see myself at 50 yrs old waiting for One Night with Crutches Tour CD to come out from the jehovahsmusicclub.com site.

My friend worked on the set of Purple Rain.
He was a stand-in for Prince. A stand-in is someone who looks like the star and is used to set up the scene before the star comes out to do the actual scene. He is a musician and a producer and lives in L.A. He recently produced the album Pimp to Eat for the Analog Brothers.

The lead singer from 'Ready For The World' can clearly be seen in the crowd just before Wendy begins strumming the first guitar licks of 'Purple Rain'.

My old boss for about 8 years.

He was opening a resturant in Minn. and he was invited to be part of the audience at the club filming sessions.

I've skimmed through the DVD a few times to see if I could see a younger him and so far I haven't ben able to point him out.

He said it was a lot of fun, but never actually got to meet him.

What was hilarious, back around when Purple Rain came out, in L.A. I would run into these people who claimed they were or claimed they were "friends with" people who were the extras and I never saw them. One friend claimed he was tight with the guys who were up in the stands dancing to the Time's music, who never materialized. It's funny how all these "extras" wound up from First Avenue in Minneapolis to living in L.A. not to mention that I clubbed a lot and I seen them hanging out in the same clubs in L.A. during the time when they were supposedly filming Purple Rain.

But back to Purple Rain extras, I wonder where's the guy with the brown hair and beard who can be seen in Dez's "Modernaire" scene where everyone's dancing dipping to the side and he's so noticably out of sync with everyone else. That scene cracks me up everytime I see it.

I was in Purple Rain and the Let's Go Crazy video.

They filmed a bunch of scenes about 3 blocks from my home when I was in high school. I was in the right place at the right time, I guess. My girlfriend and I really dug Prince at the time and while we were waiting around for the scene to be set up, we stood outside Prince's trailer to get a glimpse of our favorite funky munchkin. So eventually, out of the trailer door comes a figure in the now famous purple trench coat. He walks right up to us and looks us in the eyes. It wasn't Prince, it was his stand-in. Six feet tall and not too pretty. I think that my girlfriend must have made a face of disappointment or something, because he turned and walked away

I watched scenes being filmed that never ended up in the movie, but were in the trailer. Morris and Apples running around Prince's house late at night, and some scenes with dialogue etc.

I know a bunch of people that were in various scenes. There was a casting call press release at the time and a bunch of peeps from South High took off from school and tried out. Many of the "beautiful people" were hired on as extras. Most ended up in the First Avenue scenes. Some were paid and some were just "lucky" extras. I was lucky. My wife (girlfriend at the time) was pissed that she was just out of camera range. I point this out to her and friends every time we watch Purple Rain.

The DVD is great because you can pause a crystal clear frame and marvel at your own famousness. Even if you're by yourself. Is that a little sad?
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

DAMON KIRK AND TONY AND ONE OF THEIR OTHER FRIENDS ARE IN THE BALCONY. THEY WERE KNOWN FOR A LONG TIME AS THE PURPLE RAIN DANCERS BUT AT THAT TIME HAD THEIR OWN GROUP. THEY WERE EXTRAS THROUGH OUT THE MOVIE BUT MOST OF IT WAS ON THE BALCONY. LATER THEY BECAME MEMBERS OF THE NPG OFFICIALLY.
