Electronic drums have been P music tombstone?

Try to listen to Come, Emancipation, New Power soul... it makes you sick! What has this to do with "real music for real music lovers"?
In God we trust.

Look at the volume of music Prince has put out...it is nice to know that when Prince has an idea...that He shares it with us.
Prince's voice alone, is for music lover's. I was gonna buy a mixer so I could take all of the music out at one point....I couldn't afford it, but I will one day...just to do it.

He didn't start saying that til ONA. I'm not bothered, some have his best work was with synthetic drums, not particularly on any of the albums you mentioned but his 80's stuff. I love the linn.

but each to their own. shrug

Prince is a real musican, and he does real music, be it eletronic or organic. Its not contradiction, just lack of understanding of you.

I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Real musicians use whatever's at their disposal. Musicology. Study up! Imagine how boring the world would be if we never used electronics. Instead of synths, pianos. And instead of guitars, banjos. Get the picture? Nevermind all the creative studio effects that make a song unique. Break free of designs others place on your mind. Make music everyway possible.

I'm glad we don't all have that attitude otherwise we wouldn't have progressed from the didgeridoo.

P has been using electronic drums and drum machines since the 80s. Bobby Z was playing electronic drums live as far back as the 1999 tour. Those big-sounding snares and tom sounds from the 1999/PR-era weren't made from acoustic drums.

As for "real music"...just because the music is made with electric/or electronic instruments doesn't make it fake. You still have to know how to play and use the gear to make it sound good. The instruments don't play themselves....It's real because someone really has to play them!

A lot of P's drum prog/ electric drums are much more intricate to program than an acoustic drumkit is to play.
Only a real musician could come up with something like 777-9311.
There's a great vid on Youtube of a drummer explaining how to play this song!

u have a point, but i think that because Prince has made so much music, it becomes hard to really distinguish. for example, there are some analog beats where i noticed Prince likes to mix in flanger; it gives the sound a weird tinge. there are also some instances of drums where Prince plays and its sounds weak. i think that '2 sevens together' song on musicology is one of them.

then u get the analog on tracks like kiss which make it hard to keep your booty in still position
