Prince raggae Firstly I cant claim to have heard every song prince has ever written, but from what I have heard he has used virtually all styles of music blues, rock, soul, pop and funk I can also hear jazz and classical influences in some of his music, but as far as Im aware hes never done any raggae style track and I never read or heard him talking about raggae as an influence. Ive also never read or heard about him talking about bob marley, maybe he just doesnt like raggae which is strange for an artist who seems to embrace virtually all styles of music what do you think? I believe we all have a sliver at least of Reggae in us...Prince seems to have it in Him...but that style just looks out of His music here and there...Like the piece in, "The Sun, The moon and Stars." "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...

WHAT??? there is a remix version of pink cashmere that is reggae styled also 4 a brief moment in 1979, prince was managed by bob marley's manager who quit soon afterwards man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Wouldn't you love to love me?

As I once replied to this exact thread at HQ a few months ago, reggae has influenced his music, but one has to have heard real reggae music first to get it, the most people here know of reggae is UB40 and Bob Marley (No Woman, No cry). Go listen to the reggae stations at winamp or look up reggae at youtube, then you will hear music by real musicians.
http://www.bigupradio.com/ Alpha Blondy is also a very good appetizer or Matisyahu if you want to hear some guitar solos If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

They aren't reggae. and second, Matisyahu? no sorry. The dude is cool but i'm talking Burning Spear, Barrington Levy, even Jimmy Cliff.
