If you are influencing other artists then isn’t that relevant? Robin Thicke and Alicia Keys’ most recent songs are clearly influenced by Prince – maybe to the point of sounding too much like him IMO. Both have mentioned him as an influence, and they are among the most respected younger artists of this period. Does that make him relevant? Just wondering.
