"
His relevance has deteriorated strongly and continues to with each passing moment." You say this crap everytime you get pissed. If P has no relevance then explain why BET is showing the video. In addtion, he still puts lots of asses in the seats so he is relevant to people. We do not want the video linked on this site because we do not want to the site to get shut down. What did you do before the internet? You waited for the video to show up on BET/MTV. P and the music publishers and record companies want you to go out and buy music. Not look and listen for free. In addtion, you could spend the same energy complaining to look around and find the video. BlaqueKnight said: raveun2thejoyfantastic said: I'm pretty sure they're not deleting OrgNotes, U just can't post the video link or offer it thru OrgNotes when U post on the forum. That's the main problem. The draw of fansites it to be able to do/say/share more than what you could at the official site. If the fansite is just like the official site, why go to the fansite? You can go to practically any other artist's fanboards and find people sharing music videos (released) and other things that can be found around the web (pics and so on). Prince has become such an asshole that he doesn't want people even seeing his shit without "permission". I have no respect for that kind of mentality at all. Dude has squeezed the shit out of his fans so tightly that his fansites are scared that they will end up on the legal end of a lashing from Prince if they even allow other people to share circulated released videos. WTF? You can't tell me that doesn't suck. I'm just saying what some people are thinking but quietly accepting. I've never been one for "quiet acceptance" so there's no reason for me to start now. As it is, nobody else but his fans even give a damn about his ass these days. His relevance has deteriorated strongly and continues to with each passing moment. Who else even wants to see a Prince video other than his fans? Why not share amongst the people who care? That's all I'm sayin'.

Just saw the video and ...
1) I really like that white jacket he's wearing 2) The woman in the video looks like a low rent Caterine Zeta-Jones (not impressed especially since I don't like Caterine Zeta-Jones anyway ) 3) The video and the song go well together... they're both as boring as watching paint dry I still love P but dang I'm just not seeing what the who-ha is about this video or this song. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I guess some fans, including myself, find the video interesting looking at it from the context of his current situation, (from the outside looking in ofcourse because i'm not privy to his personal life). Manuela appeared to move on with Eric Benet and the song makes me feel like he is still searching. That's just my take on it.

I have been wondering about the lyric "now your here on earth" and "you can just page me". These two lyrics lead me to assume that maybe he aleardy knows this women or has seen her somewhere, but if the later is true, how could she page him if he just saw her in passing, she would not have his number right? Also if it is his soulmate as this video maybe suggesting then she has always been on earth.... where else would she have been? So my point is he must have just seen her in passing or what ever the case to know the she is "now" on earth, and what does he mean by "by your everything I hold so dear"? Again he goes back to suggesting he knows her. I am confused, like the video, and the song but it confuses me. Anybody else care to elaborate?

im not sure that the song is about someone he HAS met..
i just think its about a soul mate being someone you dream about and you know they're out there because you feel them in your soul. thats why the clip shows her sitting were hes sitting etc.. she is almost part of him...which is just another example of his forever complex creative and sexual self... i think its just a simple song about loving your one true love and loving oneself when IN true love with someone you become 'one' and in his case he thinks all is one under the creator of life.. GOD... he just hasnt met her yet....(hes had a few cracks!!) the line about paging and the digital age is just his comment on people like us really!! using the internet to communicate rather than face to face connection. any more thoughts?? i am watching you prince

"Now your here on earth" She once was an angel. "You can just page me" she already has his number but has not been using it. "YOur everything I hold so dear" He already loves her so deeply theres no question of it. Just my take "......I gotta' lotta' butta' 2 go"

It's a nice enough video, but pretty pedestrian. Some shots of Prince on piano wouldn't have gone a miss, you know.
I'm not really sure I see the point of recording relatively expensive videos like this, only to have them play on an extremely limited number of channels, and not actually for a commercially released single or radio single. Same old Prince I guess, but a little bit of business sense goes a long way. // [Edited 2/18/08 8:34am]

That's has nothing to do with what I said. Learn to focus on the topic at hand. Secondly, I could care less what Prince wants, what his publishers and record labels or even what this site wants. I don't serve any of these people and I don't work for them. Thirdly, since when were videos NOT free? I had no trouble at all finding and seeing this video online. There are way more online video sites than youtube and it is out there. I already had the video when I posted. If you had read my post correctly instead of posting a knee jerk response to one thing I said (which is also true), you would have known that. The POINT to my post was that in this era of new technology, people utilize it. Save your archaic speech about what people did "back in the day". This is now and I'm not living in the past. The internet is here and its not going anywhere. People on other fansites share released music videos all of the time, so instead of keeping your nose up Prince's ass and trying to justify every little thing he does, why don't you and your little co-signers step into the real world and comprehend technology a lil' bit? My complaint was simple - why can't people see it if they want to if they have the capabilities and are in a place online where "fans" congregate?

wonder505 said: midnightmover said: Events prove no such thing. can you elaborate? Can you? Perhaps you've chosen to turn an oblivious eye to the music world as it is today and not in 1985 but Prince's relevance HAS deteriorated among the general public. Do you realize that the industry caters to an audience young enough to be his grandchildren? Fading relevance does not detracts from the greatness of the work he has done in any way but ain't nobody tryin' to hear "Planet Urf" all up in the clubs or even on a drive home from school or work. What he's doing now is not where the general public's ear is and that's just the way it is. Try not to be overly sensitive about a man that doesn't care about your existence. Prince.org is more of a thorn in Prince's side these days. Imagine that? People actually want to share videos that have been released so that all of the fans around the world can see them and not just the ones in the U.S. who have B.E.T. in their cable package. Wow. What horrible assholes!

Watch out ya'll! When you see the blue text, you know that some knowledge is being dropped. But seriously, why is Prince's relevance to the general music world any different than any other artist that has been around for thirty years or more. It's not.
No, Prince is no longer relevant outside of his own fanbase, but neither is Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder, Tina Turner, Elton John, Chaka Khan, Phil Collins, Rod Stewart, Van Halen and so on and so on. These artists may continue to release albums, and sell a "small" amount to their fanbase, but the chances of them having a hit on pop radio again is practically zero. I have no problem admitting that Prince's popularity is not where it used to be. I think one would have to be delusional to think otherwise. But it would be quite silly to think he is any different in that regard than other music icon. By the way, to stay on topic, the Somewhere Here On Earth video actually makes me like the song more than I did prior to seeing it. He is exactly who we thought he was
