New topic PrintableI don't think Prince was controlling. Didn't the bible say "Woman obey thy husband"? I think wives need to obey their husbands more. I'm trying to get my wife to understand this but she just doesn't get it.

I hate 2 b a party-pooper here, but I think this article is a hodge-podge of different interviews with her, or even a direct copy of the Interview with her in the UKs Observer Magazine of last year sometime, cos there quotes from her in this article that are directly from that magazine article, cos at that time she WAS slated 2 appear in Charlie Wilsons' War, but wasnt she cut out of the movie in the end????
Also, whoever compiled this article didnt do their homework right, cos, Prince and Mayte didnt marry in the summer, they married in February of 1996, which is not exactly in the summer, is it!!??? Also, there are other slight discrepancies in that article, which I find a bit off-putting!!!

I could never get on the Mayte bandwagon.
I dont find her appealing in the slightest. Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

Such a stunner. Glad to see she has a brain of her own. I didn't notice her in Charlie Wilson's War, though?

An Artist or rather a musical genius, would not want to be interupted while working, because it ruins a train of thought, or work flow,or he didn't want her to interrupt his "True Muse", the one Prince really always has and has had, before, during, and after Mayte .
Besides, on Mayte's behalf and all the women out there, it's Not unusual for a man to want to work without the interuption of his wife, gorgeous or not, just for the sake of getting work done. Not weird. [Edited 2/4/08 18:44pm] Or because he was a dick & didn't want to be caught with another woman when she called. Potato. Potato.

Not weird. it's still not normal though, then again, having a musical genius as a husband isn't very normal either. Him not allowing her to call him was just a form of controlling her. Whether he didn't want to be interruped recording, writing a song, performing, or fucking one of his back up singers, it all points to control. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

He said most Men would LOVE to have a women who loves them enough and cares about them enough to call now and then.. I am SURE Mayte was not calling him 10 times a day... that would be one thing. I have always liked MAYTE.. she is a sweet kind girl and a very pretty one too. I always feel so bad for her when I think of their child dying.. and how Prince wouldn't admit it and just kept pretending "All was good" how terrible for her!!!!! I hope she is happy and finds that perfect man some day!!!

Is it just me or did P seem to be the most happiest when he was with her? It's really too bad it didn't work out for them both, they were such an attractive couple together [/quote]
I TOTALLY Agree.. He seemed So happy and "Fun".. going on talk shows, doing lots of shows, he just seemed in a good groove I really really think Prince loved Mayte ALOT.... But he just can't keep that sexy dick in his pants.. LOL

I've read this article before some time ago in here. I can assure you that nothing is more annoying than being called 10 times a day by a wife or a husband. It's not my job but I've picked up the phone several times at my company and it's so annoying when always the same people call for their husband/wife just to ask something trivial like what they have to buy at the grocery store. Why in hell would you do that when you see each other in the evening. I can imagine him not wanting to be called while being creative. If she was allowed how would it have been. Him rocking his guitar and some PA interrupting him everytime "err, it's your wife, Mayte". "What, again?" "Hi baby, whatcha doing? Hmm playing the guitar, ok. I'm bored to death in our mansion. So what do you want to have for dinner, carrots with mashed potatoes or the brocollisoup..." He did good and don't tell me that she didn't know why he didn't wanted to be called. If you're married you can sniff over 5 miles what his intentions are.

Considering I was around Mayte back during the Days of Wild (1993 - 1996). Her quotes were on point from what I saw with my own EYES at Paisley Park. The one point I would like to make is:
1. Prince performed a lot at Paisley during 1995 and Mayte was not at all the shows. She only came to Paisley when Prince wanted her to dance. She was not in the building if she was not performing. Before Prince married Mayte, he had a harem. Mayte was around the harem girls when they were on the front row and she was on the stage. When the gig was over, Mayte left out the back door into a waiting car and Prince stayed at Paisley doing what he did best; watching his harem vie for his attention. Like Mayte said, they had a strange relationship.

DevotedPuppy said: Just wondering how come no one ever accuses Mayte of trading on Prince's name like they do with Manuela? I mean, come on, this article must be pretty recent as it refers to Charlie Wilson's War (even though I swear I've read it before) and yet the title makes obvious reference to the fact that she was Prince's ex-wife. Firstly, that was what, 10 years ago, and secondly, I thought he was when they were married.
And Mayte is a "fashion ambassador" (whatever that means)? But if Manuela has a candle/incense line, people scoff and say she's not qualified? . [Edited 2/4/08 21:36pm] i scoff just at the mention of so said 2nd wife man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Maybe she doesn't "understand" it because she's no fool. A person'd have to be a phenomenal idiot to actual believe that line. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

Yeah, I think I've def. seen bits and pieces of this interview in other sources. Lazy journalism for sure.
I like her though. Anyone who can survive a relationship with ol' Princey relatively unscathed is a tough cookie. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

What i want too know is ...Doesnt prince make them sign something that doesnt allow anybody in his life too talk about his private life? This article gets pretty private . I bet he is mad as hell
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I'm not defending his behavior, but she wasn't some chick that was with him from day one, sleeping on the floor and eating oodles of noodles or anything. She was a groupie that wanted to be with him and who had sick enough parents to let her do it. If anyone's messed up in this situation, it's her parents. It's like the Rick James situation with that addict.

I don't know, but I think that says more about her than him that she would discuss their personal relationship. Regardless of whether there was a confidentiality agreement, there are certain things I would never share about my ex, even though it was not a good break-up, because they were private and doing so serves no purpose to me or him.
