Parade Death scene

I was flipping channels tonight and came across Parade on FUSE TV. It was right at the scene where Prince is fleeing Mary's father in the boat. Anyways Prince gets out of the boat and Mr Sharon says shoot him..... BANG. cut to Prince getting shot in the back and doing the worse shot reaction I've ever seen. I laughed my ass off. It look like James Brown trying to get on his Good foot..... and than Jerome going Damn Chris. Not now God he's just a kid. Horrible.

I used to loved this movie, thats the first time I've seen it in a while and I can't believe how bad some of the acting was in that movie....that was until Graffiti Bridge came on after it.

Check that scene out if you get a chance. I swear if you listen close you'll even hear a Good God right when he's hit.

"Purple Rain" is the only Prince movie with real acting. wink
"Parade" is a B&W French film of Prince just showing off & "Graffiti Bridge" is a friggin '60s musical! lol

That was kinda corny, the way he laid down in his all white and that little trickle of blood at the corner of his mouth. But Parade is my favorite Old Prince movie, he's so fine. biggrin

i think Prince's acing is very good. Also i think that Prince chose to act in the style he did, because in my opinion "Under the Cherry Moon" is a parody of the way old dramatic movies were made and acted out. i don't know know how many old movies u've seen, especially some of the earlier ones, but if u have u'll know what i'm talking about. Thats why some of it is funny, its meant to be funny and serious. smile smile i heart prince

Ya know, Prince was actually really quite good in the acting department in Purple Rain. Except for Clarence Williams III and Olga Karlatos, Prince was one of the best performances.

He obviously had no one with the balls to say "that sucks... let's do a re-take" on the two subsequent films.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

I'm sorry I was thinking at the time that probably is my favorite album. Hard to say between it and 1999 and Dirty Mind. I have to say Parade. STISIA is definately my favorite song of all time and one I want played at my funeral ( my wife doesn't get it.)

Don't get me wrong. I love the movie , love the album I just thought that scene was hilarious especially his reaction to the bullet.

I always thought Jerome was pretty good too, I don't remember it being that bad , but maybe I've just grown up.

Would have been much better if the scene were filmed with the bullet shot being heard while Mary was talking and the camera was on her. Then, they could just quickly cut to Prince laying on the ground--bypassing a corny gun shot reaction.

But to Prince's credit, I wouldn't have any idea how to pretend like I were just shot. I probably wouldn't have done any better.

strange...i must b one of the few people who:
1) thought the movie was called UNDER THE CHERRY MOON

2) enjoy it 4 what it was...an artisic, romantic, tragic story..not unlike ROMEO AND JULIETTE.

(did i just compare prince to Romeo and Juliette?? wow....)
he's no good to me dead!

So glad other people caught that on the tube last night. I personally hadn't seen it for a really long time but have been thinking about it a lot, wanting to purchase the DVD. BUT, I would have to agree, that there was some tragic acting there, I mean, whoa-god damn bad. AND, who cares, because it was Prince and he's awesome even when awfull. And that kissing!! Lord, Jesus. But, he is fine, though. in his little french halter top and heels.

a lot of people judge this film too harshly
I love it, it`s great fun. Old school film makin`.

James cagney and and Humphrey over-acted. people never critisise them, probably because the general opinion is that they`re top-notch actors, but actually they did the same kind of thing in their movies.
