Glastonbury organiser Michael Eavis says he has booked "a black American headliner" in an attempt to attract a younger audience to this year's festival. The annual music event's line-up is traditionally kept under wraps until the gates open, so fans won't find out who the artist is until June. But who are the contenders to be the main act at the UK's biggest festival? Who is he? The pint-sized purple purveyor of pop, who spent a majestic 21 nights at London's O2 arena last year. Festival form: Prince tends to play his own concerts, but after more than 30 years on stage he would have very little trouble getting the Glastonbury crowd on their feet. Crowd-pleasing anthem: He rehearsed 150 songs for his O2 residency, with greatest hits like Purple Rain and Raspberry Beret interspersed with more recent tracks like Musicology. Will he play Glastonbury: Michael Eavis has spoken of his attempts to get Prince to the festival before, but his desire to attract younger audiences could rule the rock legend out of the running. |

Eavis is reported to have said that the act if from NYC, so that sems to rule out Prince. | |

That would be something ! simply prince and michael jackson performing on the same stage, same night would possibly be too much for the universe to handle, causing the destruction of everything. though before that happened, would be the greatest experience in history. I am involved with a festival. We reached out to Prince this year. We were turned down in record time. His representative told us Prince does not play our type of event. That said, there are components of our event that are different from Glastonbury. But I kind of get the feeling Prince generally doesn't want to share the spotlight. And then again, he did play the New Orleans Jazz Fest in 2004. So I guess anything can happen. Which makes this post pointless, so ignore it. P.S.: Don't confuse me with Illustrator. I remember it was reported that Prince was more or less booked to play at an 80's festival in Scotland last summer but at the very last minute his booking fee became a million quid.
As long as Prince thinks he is worth a million to appear then Im sure he will never play Glastonbury. Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!
