Prince Country album

Prince should do a country album. Not Cuntry like Toby Keith, Brooks and Dunce type crap. I'm talking like Wille Nelson, Johnny Cash, Hank Sr. Ernest Tubbs Country.

Being the great song writer Prince is, I bet it would be the best Country album in the last 30 years.

Despite the fact that, being the great song writer he is, he hasn't made a good "Prince" album since 1995.

He should stick to his own genre until he gets his game back.

yep, he would look just great in the overalls, singing about tractors, cornfields, and the neighbours goat.

BTW he has actually covered quite alot of ground in this territory and a fix up with Tori Amos is long due wink
If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

I think "The One You Wanna C" was a pretty good start on the country tip...

That's the kind of thing I'm talking about. I bet Prince would be wicked on the pedal steel, mandolin, and banjo. Throw in a couple fiddles maybe an accordian and you got yourself some hot stuff. "I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man" would make a good country song.

i wouldn't put it past him. shy had kind of a country feel to it. i doubt he'd do a whole album like this though. he's been kind of coasting since the rainbow children and NEWS. i hope he throws us a curveball soon but i don't think this is what i (or him, really) have in mind.

That would be Michael Bland's job. Then we'd have Larry Graham on the washtub bass and Sheila E on the washboard.

Isn't everyone else trying to get on this bandwagon?
I wouldn't be interested in this, at all. Not unless it was really soulful country. So much so, that it suits both audiences...and only qualified as country by a small margin.

I'd so much rather hear him re-do some of his earliest songs...maybe acoustic...and maybe even as a duets album...then you can get a couple of country renditions in there and everyone will be happy.

On second thought, maybe not a duets album...but maybe 2 CD's. One all Prince, and the other all guest's covering his music.

I'm not surprised that someone wants Prince to do a country album. I knew that once Prince got a more diverse audience that even country music wouldn't be out of the question for them. I never would have heard a Prince fan requesting a country album before "Little Red Corvette". The Prince fans of that era would have stoned the person for even bringing it up. lol

On the plus side you have "Purple Rain" which is blatantly a country song (hear Leane Rimes version for the doubters amongst you) on the minus side we have "Right The Wrong" which is a musical act of terrorism so atrocious P should be sent to Guantanamo Bay.

Reckon we could put our own album together and use his Muppets appearance for the cover!! lol

there's definitely a "hoedown" influence present at times in his work. Songs like The 1 U Wanna C is a prime example.

You guys kill me. Whenever Prince comes up with something different fans hate on it. "
"Rainbow Children and NEWS are great examples. Everybody on this board hated on these CD. Now a few years later they are the greatest CD he recorded.(LOL)

He does stuff that is commercial and he does stuff that is artistic. He has a good balance and some of you need to get off your high horse and stop acting like any music that is created for the masses is bad.
