You know, during that "My Night at the Grammy's" show, I noticed no less than three---3!---different commercials featuring Mary. (iPod, Chevy?, and I think the third one was for Target ). I thought: 1. Mary must have a new album coming out. 
2. Her manager/agent is working their ass off. 3. As much as I like Mary, I was secretly glad you-know-who doesn't do commercials (was not a fan of the Verizon one), while at the same time I wistfully wondered what it would be like to be a fan of someone who actually uses their image to promote themselves (instead of trying to eradicate all traces of it). 4. I'll illustrate what I'm saying, admittedly in a rather laboured way, but still...
Prince's recent actions: (X, Y, Z...whatever they are) Your interpretation of Prince's actions: ("He's saying F.U. to me") Your feelings: betrayed, hurt, angry etc Your behaviour: spilling over on an internet forum at every available opportunity calling Prince out Someone else, however, may have a different interpretation of Prince's recent actions, such as: "well, it's his thing, let him do what he wants" OR "this may benefit me in the long run as an artist" OR "I like that he's stirring it up again". As a result, their feelings may be more like: ambivalence, hope, excitement etc. So, you see, it's not Prince's actions per se which are causing you to feel how you are but rather your interpretation of his actions. And you, not Prince, are responsible for how you interpret his actions. It is entirely possible you may put a different spin on it if you choose to look at the possibility of a different perspective. When you buy into a different interpretation it will likely cause your feelings to change. You are making yourself feel how you are based on your interpretation. Now, it is my belief that you believe your interpretation is 'the truth'. But have you ever considered that your interpretation may be incorrect? Or that there may be other ways of looking at this same situation that do no equate to Prince saying F.U.? What else might he be trying to say rather than F.U.? | |

Anji, I could look at it a million different ways, that doesn't mean any of them would be the "truth and nothing but the truth". Only Prince knows...well at least I hope he knows what that is. However, he's not talking...only offering "Diss" songs and threats through Web Sheriff. So I'm not gonna waste my energy trying to... 1. Guess what his motivations are. 2. Understand the meaning of his motivation based on my guesses. When and if he ever decides to set the record straight, I'll be more than happy to listen until then...I can only base my opinion and how I feel about him and these current circumstances on his actions but I will accept full responsibility for my getting riled up and venting ad nauseam because I'm just like that sometimes. | |

However, it is high time someone TRULY stands up to Mr. Nelson! Nearly 30 years is a long time for getting away with being a spoiled brat! It is!!!!! I accept full responsibility for creating the monster that Prince has become as I would for a spoiled child that I inadvertently set loose on the world. For all intent and purposes, WE (his hardcore fans) created the persona known as Prince!!! WE DID!!! When the essential tangibles are calculated...they were provided US (his hardcore fans) for 25 out of 29 of Prince's career years! That ain't fiction!!! I don't care how it's spent!!
I'm sorry!! What I feel IS unpleasant, unsettling and unnerving!! No one understands that better than I...because NO ONE on this planet for nearly 30 years could have made me feel the way that I do right now about Prince except for Prince...HIMSELF!!! I didn't just wake up one day, a couple of months ago, after 29 years of KNOWING better and decide that Prince is a twit, on my own!! I didn't!! HE made that happen!! Why on God's green Earth?? I swear I don't know but I do know that I HAVE to play the cards that I'm dealt! Even if I don't like the hand of those cards, one little bit!! I've just got to!
