Who's the old, fat, black dude? I hurt my back last week and had just washed down two pain pills with a couple of beers (that's my excuse)...
I recently got a turn table to try some old-school vinyl stuff. I put on a new (bought used) Prince maxi-single extended version for Hot Thing. The grove is kinda funky, but then some old dude is singing Hot Thing. Sounds old and fat. Still sounds kinda funky, but why does Prince let this guy sing Hot Thing? Then, finally, I hear Prince singing back up. Again, why is Prince singing back up? Well, I get sick of this track after a while (5 minutes?) - kinda dragging on- and flip the LP to listen to the released version of I Could Never Take The Place of your Man - same voice. Even though the record was the size of a 33, it was a 45. I was playing it at the wrong speed. So now I know what Prince will sound like when he's 80. Oh - Prince "singing backup" was his falsetto voice slowed down to sounding "normal". Made me laugh at myself.

I have a record player and that 12" too. I'm gonna try that. I tried that with the "17 Days" 45" and it sounded weird.
