Prince not eligible for Brit award this year Source: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/h...120632.stm
The article says that, as well as Radiohead, Prince won't be eligible for a Brit award this year because he hasn't had a top album this year (due to Planet Earth not being released in shops). What a disappointment! With the 21 Nights in London, I'd say he was a favourite to win Best International Artist. Thoughts?

the fact the bbc has made a report on this is statement enough!
this will just highlight the flaws in the music industry, which will only add weight 2 what prince has been yelling about 4 years. these awards r always a bit dubious. there has always been an underlying feeling tht they're fixed etc. it's not unheard of tht the awards have frozen artists out if they are not likely 2 attend.... clearly prince has had an outstanding & successful tour in the uk & this accounts 4 nothing? the awards r making a mockery out of what has really been happening in music this yr

i dont know bout Brit, but i know artists here receive awards given to them based on albums they released the 'previous' year... Prince didnt release an album last year .. it's too soon to give awards for PE

Saying No to Radiohead and Prince is big proof the music industry is stuck in the past and in a 'mood' with those who want to move forward... If the music industry wants to stick around it needs to get with the times and include downloads in award show categories.

plus think of all the extra people who watched it in 2006 because of his performance, theres the gratitude. Its because he challenges the system and gave album away free, he welcomes the future the music industry are scared of it and making the wrong moves now. They should think long term not short term on this.
