musicology or 3121 or Planet Earth:ur fave?

Hey, out of Musicology, 3121 and Planet Earth, which is your favourite album at the moment. I'd have to go along with 3121.

I haven't been back to these three in weeks.

I seriously think that I was digging 3121 more than Planet Earth.

But I launched Planet Earth into same plateau where I put my other 5 favorite albums that he's done.
And for so many reasons, I love it to death much more than the other two.
had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone

Planet Earth. To date, I've def listened to it more than 3121 already. And I prefer 3121 compared to Musicology, though I dig them all cool

1 Planet Earth - good songs, he sounds like he's actually there, but not trying too hard

2 Musicology - the first of the "Prince trying to sound like Prince" albums. It does a nice job, but he sounds like he's phoning it in.

3 3121 - this one is a mess. it has some great tracks on it, but it has the most dogs as well. and the production is too slick and sucks all the life out of the overall feel of the album. It could probably be the best one if he'd just lightened the touch a bit and ditched a few clunkers (Incense, Lolita, etc.).

3121...minus Lolita and Te Amo Corazon, I like all of the songs. Can't say that much for Musicology or Planet Earth.

3121 without a doubt is the best of the three. Classic Prince sound as it just flows better and it's more accessible as an album. Call it commercial if you like but it's by far the best of the three albums and over the last few years.

I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

3121 easily, love the album, one of my favourites by prince, so solid.

then its a toss up between the other 2, i love them both, but both have equal standing for me.
Wouldn't you love to love me?

cool cool cool

3121 is by FAR the superior album. Every song is listenable and enjoyable. Quintessential Prince.

mad mad Musicology and Planet Earth are among his blandest and most forgettable. There's something extremely BORING about them. Rehashes of things he'd done before.

wink wink Not that they don't contain gems: "Musicology", "Call My Name", "Somewhere Here on Earth", "Chelsea", "Resolution" and a few others have made my favorites mix.

Even though 3121 has a 'familar' Prince vibe, I think the songs are just superior. I'd launch it into space as a representative of Prince music.

I change my mind a whole lot with the first two of these albums.

In fact, they were 2 of the first albums I laid my hands on... I've had them the longest, so I've change my mind so many times about them.

Musicology: first I don't like, then I slowly fall in love with it, now it seems a little bland with the arrival of Planet Earth... makes it sounds a lot more dated... and now it kinda feels like Prince bringing back the kinds of music he grew up with... so I'm not too keen on it.
But it does have some gems cool A Million Days is bittersweet, but its one of the most personal songs he's written lately. Cinnamon Girl is the best all-around, kinda like Somewhere here on Earth is on PE, but even that song beats this one out.

3121: First I loved it and went off at the mouth saying "Prince isn't too far gone as people think he is"... now THAT was the pop record I was hoping Musicology to be. I dig pop, so I dig 3121. Then it sounded a little too modern for me at times, so at the time I didnt dig this album, Musicology came off so much better. There are amazing songs here, though, can't deny that.
The Word & The Dance... nothing else like them... brilliant so many ways. Love is also great cuz he uses all of the hi-tech stuff to his advantage... I counted over 30 record scratches here, doesn't get more groovy than that cool

Planet Earth: Really shifted things around for me... I was blown away when I heard it the first time. 3121 was fun throughout, but everything ran so much smoother here.

It's like those monitors that show your heartbeat or seismographs... with 3121, the ride is bumpy and it only peaks with a couple of particular tracks.... with Planet Earth, every song has a peak within it, so its more cohesive and just flows so much better.

First impressions aren't always the best thing to go on with Prince albums (I know from experience)... but the fact I liked PE right away and I still do, that's reason enough for it to be my favorite. It all comes together and it says one thing to me: Prince is in a great place within himself and I couldn't be happier for him.

I like 3121 more now that I have Planet Earth (ironic cuz all I asked of PE was for it 2b better than 3121)... but the PE vibe, its just something I can't explain. But with it, I feel like I can float cloud9
