Emancipation: Which of the three discs is your favorite?

I'm leaning toward disc 2.

disc 3, no contest.

followed by disc 1, which has a lot of nice moments but it's kinda hit or miss.

followed by disc 2, which aside from a couple of songs (namely "joint 2 joint") ranges from boring to downright tragic and depressing to me.

tough one, my fav songs are scattered throughout it. White Mansion is a killer track, but it's stuck on disc 1, which overall I'm not really partial to. Disc 3 is probabbly the strongest collectively, but it's missing White Mansion...

Unfortunately, can't deviate from the group on this one, Disc 2 kills, Disc 1 is the one to avoid for the mostpart

Well, I like 2 the best musically, but after the death of the baby "Let's Have A Baby" does have that tragic sound you mention. It was supposed to be so sweet and it's so melancholy. It's as if it was planned that way. The Holy River is also a glimpse into the sad solitary life of a dude w/fucked up eyes lol

3 is definitely my least favorite. It's too all over the place and the songwriting feels pretty lacking, with a few exceptions

1 is a nice, if dull, pop Prince cd. But track 2 was hugely disappointing, and told me that Emancipation was not going to be what I had hoped it would be.

Disc 3 easily.
At least it has some life to it and a certain amount of musical experimentation.
The whole album suffers from a tendency towards blandness to be honest,
It's like a giant ice cream sundae made from nothing but vanilla ice cream.
Nothing particularly wrong in small doses, but over 3 discs you which there
was a few more flavors in there. The previous album: The Gold Experience,
may have been only 1/3 of the size, but it had way way more flavor and
variety packed in.

The 2nd Disk..I played that 1 so much that it finally gave ghost on the est. 15,000 play lol

The love songs on that 1 were very beautiful and truley show how much of a gift Prince has when it comes to expressing his heart through music: Soul Sactuary, One Kiss At A Time (1 of my all time favorites..cant u tell?) Dreamin About U, Lets Have a Baby, Saviour, The Plan, Friend Lover Sister Mother Wife - U could truley tell the brotha was head over heels in love with Mayte (many days I wish they were still a couple sad )

Sex in the Summer, Holy River,Emale, Curious Child and Joint 2 Joint were cool too.

The 3rd Disk comes in 2nd for me. The joints I liked on that the most were :

The New World, Human Body, Sleep Around, My Computer, The Love We Make and Emancipation

I also like the intro he says at La La La ...too cute and funny wink

And when I get mad at someone..the best Prince song 4 that bar none: Face DOWN!

"Bury him face down, let the motherfuckers kiss a ass, OK?"
U want to know the secreat of love and happiness? Love GOD with all your heart, mind soul and strength. And love your neighboor as yourself.

Disc 3. I love it when Prince does dance music and the majority of that disc was right up my alley. I do love certain parts of Disc 2 and Disc 1 in that order. So take out the very few bad parts of Disc 3 and add the great parts of Disc 1 & 2, that would've been one of my favorite Prince CD's.

I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

disc 2. and while the other two discs have great things about them, they're both all over the place. in fact, all 3 could stand to be re-arranged. a party disc, a romantic disc, and the more spiritual and experimental stuff.

disc 2 is the one that comes closest to being cohesive. 1 and 3 are a mess.
