I have read that people who have been severely burned may feel cold as it happens. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

You can get burns from ice, so perhaps fire can be cold.
Where is that line from? Why do you like playing around with my narrow scope of reality? - Stupify

It's true, I remember doing an experiment in science class where we suspended a match inside a bunsen burner and it didn't catch fire, even though fire was surrounding it.
You can see a flame has an inner part if you look closely, almost like a yolk, and that part is basically a vacuum, I believe. Sort of like the eye of a hurricane, I guess. [Edited 11/21/07 10:36am] My Legacy

I always thought it was a great line because it says a lot, and it's a metaphor I've never heard, compared to it's prom queen sister "eye of the hurricane" My Legacy

In the context of the song, that seems about right:
And "Cold" as its not all that Warm, Good, Heartache,Etc Something like Just cause every thing looks Nice its not Idono... ...What's the use of money if U ain't gonna break the mold? Even at the center of fire there is cold All that glitters ain't gold All that glitters ain't gold, mmm... Why do you like playing around with my narrow scope of reality? - Stupify

Once (and this was a pretty long time ago, talkin 9-10 years), turned on a shower & at first the water was so scalding hot that 4 a second actually felt cold! Maybe that's just how we react. [Edited 11/23/07 1:19am] Stuck like glue!
