I like "Damn U" infinitely more. Such a beautiful jazzy ballad. "I Hate U" on the other hand I've never understood the appeal of. It's just about the cheesiest thing I've ever heard from him. The ending is funny but it's just so fucking contrived. What do you think?

Okay, for those of you who are voting for "I Hate U", could you please explain to me why this song is any good at all.

Maybe your reasons will help me see something I'm missing. Or maybe it will make me realize why I hated it in the first place. I'm open to suggestions.

I love "Eye Hate U"...the remix, too...the courtroom part is great. As soon as I heard it, I fell in love with it. I never get tired of hearing that song.

"Damn U" is great too, though.

oh, and sing along to it sometime. it's a great one to sing along to. the vocal tics expressing the rage, etc., help make the song.

Give me 'Empty Room' anyday for a hateful done wrong ballad.

Dark is a good one though. but not So Dark. Dark is very dark. So Dark is too shimmery, like the Emancipation stuff.

It's the first song I saw Prince sing live, and it is the haunting cry of love/lust that only Prince knows how to deliver.

No doubt about it "Damn You". It's just so smooth and the video when he sits there singing giving you the eyes you just gotta love it.

Damn U is beautiful. It has an underlying sultry piano bar formula that is almost too perfect. It's feels like an exhibition, as opposed to a moving piece of music. Everytime I hear it I wanna picture Prince in a long blonde wig, like it's been done up in rollers all night. A lowcut red dress and a filter-tip cigarette, room filled with smoke and fat mafia dons in the back.

Dark is another one that I've never been the biggest fan of. In the 80's it seems like there were never any songs that I didn't somewhat like. Then with every album from 'Graffiti Bridge' on, there's been at least 1 stinker that I've never been able to get. It's been like this-

Two Different Feelings.. Damn U is more of a Bluesy Oldie type Romantic Piece. Whereas ,I Hate U is just Real angry and Emotional. Damn U just sends me to the Heavens...The Guitar on I Hate u though can't be Beat!

I Hate U isn't as musically skillful as Damn U, but it's deep. I like it more because the lyrics build into a crescendo and then he rips your heart out with the guitar solo. I Hate U moves me, it feels real. It is real, at least it has been for me.
There's no pain quite like the pain P gets at in this song.

every artist who creates a masterpiece has to struggle to get up the next morning and try to rise beyond that last great achievement, to outdo him/herself yet again, or die trying. On every album P has given us multiple masterpieces. It pretty easy to overlook all the pieces that didn't quite rise up to masterpiece level, it's a small price. Every great artist in history has had some questionable work. I don't matter though. They're still the greatest.
