Positive Prince mention in Slash's autobiography.

Basically saying how crap MTV was and he would sit and watch it for hours waiting for something decent to come on which would either be Prince or Van Halen.

So far thats the only Prince mention and im roughly halfway.
Im wondering if he'll talk about the reception GNR fans gave Prince at Rock in Rio smile
Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!
woot!

Is the book worth a read so far? Amazon recently sent me a recommendation on it since I like dirty rock star autobiographies but I wasn't sure if I should shell out the cash for it.

I don't remember the magazine article but Slash was a bit critical of Prince after he accepted his lifetime achievement award at one of the AMAs.

He had just finished BATMAN and had long hair, a beard, etc. etc. He came out dressed sort of like something you'd see in the movie, Amedeaus, and accepted his award, made a short speach and walked off stage to standing applause.

Apparently Lenny Kravitz was back staged and talking to Slash and Slash metioned in the article that Prince completely blew him off along with everyone from GNR falloff

He said something like "He looked like a fag anyways..." falloff

disbelief

I remember reading something like that! lol Still Duff always credited Prince as being one of his influences early on in GnR interviews.

I know this will turn into a whole Axl hates fags one in a million fucking thread. But Hey! One of Axl's favorite artists is the freaking Pet Shop Boys. Flame on Cunts!!!! biggrin

Marky Mark hates Prince? lol

Why?

I'm no fan of Prince the man, but to have a non-musician of Marky Mark's low stature say anything negative about Prince is hilarious. I don't think Prince sweated too much about that. lol

They showed the My Name is Prince video and when they came back he was just like "what was that?" "What was that stuff (the chains)?", he was very antagonized by the video apparently.. the regular hosts around him were just nervously smiling and nodding...

Marky Mark is not low status now as acclaimed A-list hollywood actor Mark Walberg... that the public generally loves at this point as a badass...

He aint half bad at acting, but I like his brother a bit better.

They both PWN Prince in that department. But to have Marky Mark make a comment about Prince's videos cracks me up for some reason. I mean, the 'good vibrations' Marky Mark? lol

Slash's mum (Ola Hudson) made db's costumes for, amongst other things, his Man Who To Fell Earth film (1976) and db was somethng of a father figuire to young Slash - used to pop round to their family home quite regularly if you catch my drift wink

"Fast forward to the time in between Appetite for Destruction and Use Your Illusion, when a now rich, famous, and drug-addled Slash is speedballing so much that his hallucinations are freaking out everyone around him, so much so that his family insists on setting up a phoner-intervention-reunion:"

Quote:
David was engaging, and wise in the ways of chemical abuse. He asked me about what I was doing drug-wise and what I was going through emotionally, psychically, and with the band. I rambled on for a while, but once I started talking about my little translucent friends, David interrupted me. The conversation as a whole was way too involved to have with someone that he hadn’t seen since they were eight years old, but he’d heard enough.

‘Listen to me,’ he said. ‘You are not in a good way. If you are seeing things every day, what you are doing to yourself is not good at all. You are at a very spiritual low point when that begins to happen.’ He paused for a moment. ‘You are exposing yourself to the darker realms of your subconscious being. You are making yourself vulnerable to all kinds of negative energy.’

I was so far gone that I didn’t agree. I thought of my hallucinations as my good-time entertainment.

‘OK, that’s cool.’ I said. ‘Yeah, I suppose that’s bad. Duly noted.’

Mark Walberg is a STONE racist. So that's not surprising. He's made various comments refering to blacks as niggers in the past. He's talked about how when he was growing up in Boston, that he and his white friends used to ride by on bikes, throwing rocks at blacks. He said this shit in some interview. Him and Kravitz almost came to blows at a party because Lenny was dating a white girl that he used to date but she left his ugly ass. He was not only pissed cuz she was seeing someone else, BUT she was dating a black dude; i.e. Lenny Kravitz. I heard that Mark was overheard at the party saying to the girl "Why are you sleeping with that nigger for?"

yeah, he may have shared what he did as a kid, but he does movies with black folks.. maybe by now his viewpoint changed. He played Thandie Newton's lover (whose black)in a film.. would a racist do that? maybe he still cared about the girl (that Lenny dated) and he was venting out..

I think stories of certain artists being "blown off" by Prince can be attributed more to Prince's shyness offstage than intentional rudeness.

That being said, remember that GNR were the typical drinkin' and partyin' type rock stars and maybe Prince just didn't want to get involved in that mess, even so much as to stop and chat.

I still have that AMA show on VHS somewhere, and I remember members of GNR being sloshed when they were accepting their award: so much so that producers had to cut to a commercial to cut the acceptance speech short.

I can understand Marky Mark dissing the "My Name Is Prince" video. Hell, even as a die-hard fan, I was a bit embarrased by that song and video.

But as someone else pointed out, Marky Mark gave us the hip-hop turd that is "Good Vibrations", so he has no room to talk shit.

Yeah, I know he's done work with black folks. So what? That's not real. That's acting. He's an actor. He's gotta get paid so he takes the best scripts that comes his way. Doesn't have anything to do wih his personal thoughts. And him "venting out" as u put it. Yeah sure. He was venting out. Michael Richards was venting out too.
