GB love&hate/Questions Grafiti Bridge, imo one of the worst movies I've ever "tried" to see or even pay attention to for that manner.
The movie was very boring to the point that just said fuck it and started drawing pictures. The only person, besides Prince, I even paid attention to was Tevin Campbell. Loved-Tevin Campbell Jerome/Morris touching each other or whatever .. Prince (of course) Hated-the fact that didn't know what the hell was going on in the movie because I couldn't focus. Ingrid Chavez and I guess everthing else... Here's somethings that left me puzzled... 1) (Not that like her or anything) What the hell happened to apollonia? 2) Where did this Ingrid Chavaz person come from? 3) Where is Prince's Parent's? What did you love/hate about GB??

I like "Graffiti Bridge" a lot more when I think of it as a Broadway Musical that was filmed for the movies. To me, it's a wonderful theatrical performance.

This is a top-3 album for me, I don't care how much derision it gets. But the movie is another thing...
I did enjoy Mavis, though. I love that they were working together at this time. Also, I think the video/performace of Tick, Tick, Bang is totally hot. It's been a while since I tried to watch GB, but I think I can answer your questions: 1) Jill Jones plays Prince's girlfriend at the beginning of the movie and she says something like, "You know what your problem is? Your problem is that you got too many problems! That's why Apollonia split!" So that's why Apples is gone. 2) Heaven. She's an angel. 3) This always bugged me too. I don't know what happened to his mom in the movie, but it seems that his dad is dead as a result of the self-inflicted gunshot wound, even though Purple Rain makes it clear that Clarence survived. I thought that was a weird inconsistency. [Edited 11/21/07 12:26pm]

that is what it seems to be. After some cinema & theatre classes, I determined that GB is good for what it should've been. A theatre Production and not a full blown movie. It lacks major qualities for a movie release but has most necessary for a good theatrical release. I even think Prince said that was what he was going for.

As a musical, I loved it. I understand the message, but somehow the movie seems they just could'nt figure out how to put it all together.

I thought GB was pretty good, it had a spiritual message that not everybody understood. It was more than just a sequel to Purple rain.

Yes, and Morris Day and his gang make fun of his Mum being in the nursing home - can't remember the line but that's obviously where she is after the death of his Dad. I feel a bit sorry for P's real parents sometimes, it must have been hard to see all these 'imaginary' stories about themselves!! [Edited 11/22/07 11:54am]

Theatre being what it is, and in light of Prince's enormous success, I'm sure they didn't mind too much.

That's what The Kid calls it. Morris describes it another way: "By the way, when's she gettin' out the nuthouse? You know, I miss them back rubs..." I always thought that was interesting.

Prince's real father died in sometime 2001 & his real mother died in February 2002. [Edited 11/22/07 23:40pm] Stuck like glue!
