I can't listen to the music? Since all this fiasco has blown up I have found I can't listen to his music
It happened after the 'diss' track - I just can't feel the same way about his stuff I genuinely hope it's temporary, but this time he has gone so far in showing his disregard and what appears to me at least, to be contempt for his fanbase that when I listen to him it just makes me feel like a patsy for continuing to support him all these years - even more so given I enjoyed the London aftershows so much I wish he would come out and explain himself in a clearly worded statement rather than the silence we have at the moment I am sure he believes himself to be in the right - at the moment though I just cannot see his point of view and more importantly cannot understand his methods Anyone else feeling the same? I have been a fan for some 30 years and knew he had little love for us , but this just seems a bridge too far.....  | |

i agree that there appears to be a lot of angst - on both sides people on here cleim to be in some way associated to prince and are truly vitriolic in their denouncement of anyone who raises objection to how it has been handled other people claim to be 'in' with the site owners and state what has happened or been threatened but of course that is only one side of the matter from the 'outside' it feels like ordinary music lovers have been given no respect - but it may well be that only part of the story has been told It would be far better if Prince would set the record straight from his point of view, clearly and maturely - obviously no-one is forcing him to do so - no-one can - but I think that after supporting him for so long the fans at least deserve it even if they can't demand it in London he seemed very relaxed, happy and appreciative of his fans - especially at the aftershows - he played his guitar right there in front of me and others and we didnt grab or disrespect him - he just kept playing and we loved it - we appreciated his skill and energy and I thought he appreciated our response - non-prince fans with me were blown away - they are bemused now though all this just somehow doesn't square with where we all are now - surreal [Edited 11/15/07 1:42am] | |

The man vs. the music, and not suprisingly the music wins down.
The man has always been a Jackass, and removed from reality. For those of you who can't appreciate his music anymore I've no sympathy. You must've been very deluded in the 1st place.  small circles, big wheels!

Everyone keeps saying that PFUnk is a diss towards fans and I just disagree with that. Is it directed at fans? Yes. Is it a diss? No. I see this as simply Prince saying to his fans, no matter what you think, no matter what you do, it's not going to bring him down, he's still going to bring the funk. It's like Prince used this song to get the point across that it's about the music, should be about the music, and that no matter how angry people get about the Cease and Desist letters, he's still going to put out the music. I've been trying to find the diss in the song, and I just don't see it. | |

completely agree...just a funky jam with a big of a message to fans..the line about cancer and having poor isnt to slander fans, its just treating everyone as equal no matter what.

i felt exactly the same but realised i was just grieving as is everyone who feels this way
the process is first denial. then comes the anger. you will feel a bit depressed with it all , but then finally accept the situation. these emotions are felt with any loss... i couldnt listen 2 the musi. it felt so tainted. but the visual stuff helps. 'i still love u' thread was great coz when everyone was hating...u had a handful of orgers who were being so positive & clearly enjoying themselves & had managed 2 ignore all the crap that's going on. | |

seriously, (and for once i am being serious) people grieve in their own way.
and i think for a lot of the former "fams", there is some serious grief going on. i mean, i can't imagine how it must feel because for me my love for Prince kinda got chipped away from me piece by piece over the years. it was a slow process. but for some of the fams, this thing hit them all at once. like they finally had the curtain lifted and realized that the great and powerful OZ was a fraud after all. http://www.facebook.com/p...111?ref=ts

As a hospice social worker, I just want to clarify that the stages you listed are not the stages of grieving, but are rather the Stages of Grief as explained by Kubler Ross, to describe what an individual goes through during the dying and death experience. The actual stages of grieving are: Numbness (mechanical functioning and social insulation) Disorganization (intensely painful feelings of loss) Reorganization (re-entry into a more 'normal' social life.) Many people utilize Kubler-Ross's Stages of Grief as a model of Grieving for the loss of a loved one, but these were generated more to explain what a person goes through who is told they are dying. Also the stages aren't in order. Some people may first become angry, then depressed, then angry again, before experiencing denial. In working with patients that are dying (have 6 months or less to live), I've even seen patients achieve total acceptance of their prognosis before then going into denial. We're all different and we each grieve in our own way, depending upon our understanding of what is occurring and our beliefs of what should occur/will occur/might occur. | |

However, I would argue as well that many professionals do criticize this model as being too rigid, and as not really explaining the grieving process very well. Whereas the stages of grieving that I mentioned, typically does explain the grieving process in a much more succinct way and encompasses much more of what an individual who is grieving may experience. | |
