I would like to disagree with electrorock's comments. Prince espoused a way of life and a manner in which to conduct yourself which was extremely refreshing for 1980s ... teenagers, I suppose... Prince spoke both artistically and with an integrity that suggested worth beyond 'art for art's sake'. Some, probably myself included, bought into this 1980s man considerably... gullible, possibly... misguided, yes, but, nonetheless, Prince hinted at happiness... a worthwhile happiness beyond the shite that the rest of the 80s had to offer. That is why people are now getting so upset by all this. That is why people and judging Prince by, well, him in the past and time, it does exist, is judging him poorly. He contradicts himself daily... see Stepehn Colbert's comments on G W Bush... and it grates with the masses of people who have invested faith, time and, the one commodity that Prince seems to value, money into this musician. Other musicians live up to their appeal and credibility. Prince goes out of his way to undermine his... and waht's annoying is that the stance he once took made so much sense.

a superb tour, great music, a true genius performing, a great record but thats about it (and thats A LOT btw) the LOVE message is cool, better than saying "go get a gucci bag" but nothing new or really deep. go do some yoga meditation read good books instead if u wanna know what time it is.

Odd. Curiously, in these times of religous war and persecution, the message of Lovesexy couldn't be more apposite. "read good books"... I almost swore at you then. Patrinising in the extreme, and believe me, I know patronising.
This is not the first time Prince has doen this. It probably won't be the last. It is such a pity that a person that can "communicate" (yes, I see the quotation marks) with so many people wishes to upset them so much. That and the fact that you are recognising the time and effort put into coordinating sites like this one - as Prince isn't either. That shote that went on on NPGMC was worse than a WWI censor... nasty, all praise crap that carried no meaning nor insight. Sites like this allow crictical appraisal and, for that alone, the threat of losing it is too great to countenance. Turkey is considering overturning laws that prevent comment against the state... maybe a musician can bear to hear a bad review.

Somebody needs to realize that the life you live outside of your computer is what really counts.

And you're typing that because?
A lot of people get confused. Prince, as many artists, means so much to so many people. He caught an aspect of my developmental/adolescent years that no other artist did/can replicate/replace, hence it pisses me off when I see him acting like a twat. Also, millions of people pour cash into his coffers every day and, I'm sorry, that makes you something of a hypocrite to expect that cash spending public to respond on your terms alone... especially when you have called on their support so publically with regards the rights to freedom of speech. A life beyond the computer... ok. Give me a vibrant muscial community that doesn't rely on the interweb and I'll subscribe to it. Give me any current artist that can touch Prince's repertoire and I'll go away and follow them instead... perhaps with the help of a CD player... no, better still a turntable and a selection of batteries... perhaps a hamster in a wheel to power it... heaven forfend the use anything modern... If you're commenting on this, you're concerned about it. Prince has done it before, Oasis have done it before... music sharing on the internet is under constant surveillance... When will it become something more than a matter of mirth for you?
