I thought you can only have pictures removed if the person owning the copy write requests it. Prince can not possibly on the copy write to all of those pictures.

He doesn't! That's the point!

Prince and/or Web Sheriff are under the misguided impression that Prince owns the copyright to everything with his image, his likeness or trademark on it and that's simply not true!

Well it sounds to me like this situation is similar to the whole uptown magazine suit and the fans should prevail if that’s the case. Obviously he doesn’t want former images with long hair and lace floating around and he wants 3121 to be the main site.

What’s funny to me is that I know for a fact that JW’s have a dress code and those men are not allowed to where make up. I talked to a JW recently and he said that Prince has not been a JW for long and that anything that you have been doing for years has to become a gradual change, and you can’t stop cold turkey, and that I should expect to see even more changes in Prince’s appearance. The truth to me is that Prince still does not fit the image of what the typical JW is expected to look like and they will cut him breaks that I know damn well other witness could not get away, with because he has the power to influence, and attract people to their organization. When is the last time a JW knocked on your door with high heel boots and heavy make up and eye liner? So I said all that to say what, it’s silly to me to trip over the pictures and act so image conscious when Prince still dresses outside of the dress code of what the average JW is supposed to.

Well that’s my whole take on it, because I know he reads his fan sites from time to time, think about it.

this is ridiculous...remove images of tattoos and license plates?? for what reason?? in all seriousness...i think we should all boycott prince and his music...personally, his new music isnt any good and the old stuff is hardly even played on the radio anymore...one would think he would want his videos on youtube and such so people who are not exposed to his music (with him bascially being underground again) to get exposed to it anyway they can...thanks to youtube, i have become a fan of a lot of artists out there that i wouldnt know about otherwise...i watched their music videos and decided i need their cds

prince gets most of income from concerts...i say, fans, dont go to them anymore until he has a change of "heart"...we are the ones who gave him his nice recording studio and high lifestyle...maybe he needs to live like the rest of us for a while...middle class or poor and that will bring him off his high horse...we all know royalties dont pay shit, lol...

True funk soldiers, please get a grip.

Prince is a genius, changes his tune every five minutes, and will always do so. He's a control freak , so what's new?

This site is a public forum, however, WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE IF HE ASKS PEOPLE NOT TO PRINT PICS AND LIKENESSES OF HIM OR NOT??!! This whole "Let's unite" shit shows how egotistical Prince fans really are (Like P himself). Get over it, and yourselves, realize that to be a Prince fan you have to roll with the lack of common sense and idolization that Prince has created for himself through you.

Imagine a world where people didn't analyze Prince's latest hairstyle and women through meaningless websites. Maybe Prince's ego would leave yours alone for once, instead of feeding off it.

I'm up his ass for the music and the communal experience the shows bring...no litigation can change that for me.

If this, and any other Prince fan website seized to exist, maybe Prince would just do his own thing.

Moderate this...or get a life. Geez!!

what everyone seems to be forgetting is that if any one of these sites is found liable of even ONE copyright violation in a court of law, the fine is something like $100,000 US dollars. That's for EACH violation. Is it really worth it? Dang if someone asked me to take a picture down off my site, a picture that I swiped from somewhere else online (come on, everyone knows it and most everyone does it) I would be doing that post haste NO QUESTIONS ASKED. Is a picture worth 100.000? Heck no. This is not going to be a winning game people. Site owners should cut their losses now before it really gets ugly.

What does he mean, it's not against the fans, but between Prince and 3 unofficial websites?

Um, we are the websites.
By extension & symbolically, of course.

I'm not falling for those symantics.

Because when this mess started and it was about Youtube and Ebay...Web Sheriff was telling anybody that would listen that they were hired by Prince! He was practically bragging about it!

Sure, there will be a statement issued, but it will either be legalese babble from WebSherrif or meaningless, incoherent drivel from Prince about the "Ways of the Pharaoh" or some such shit.

Yep. can't wait to hear what the statement will be. Actually, we're all due for some of that incoherent drivel, which turns out to be the lyrics of some soon to be released track...

The funniest part of this whole situation for me is that I RARELY visited the Prince & More music forum before all of this went down. The few days here have been interesting though. That being said, I think alot of this can be cleared up as to the whos, whens, whys, and whats simply by checking out the new podcast by the founder of prince.org, Ben Margolin. It's good stuff, and puts a lot of this into perspective. It's right on the homepage under the staff blog. Or try clicking here:

http://prince.org/blog/20...e-podcast/

It's a pretty long interview, but definitely worth the listen.
