Okay, you know what Tora has noticed? When it comes to Prince at this current date, it is all about the music.
This is what I see:
Go into a topic talking about the youtube situation or websherrif or the paisley lawyers. Based off those topics and the accompianing comments, this Prince fellow is pretty bad. Its ugly, its fiery, unpleasant and it leaves a bad taste in your mouth, no matter what side you go on.

Now, staying current, go to a topic about the S.H.O.E video or Love Aucustic or hell, even Planet Earth. It's beautiful. They treat Prince like he just invented chocolate. Yeah, you get negative comments, but not nearly as bad. His music is just so good you can just shut everything out and focus on that. And for that short amount of time, that 4 minute clip, that 5 minute MP3, life is good.
And of course we got damn near 30 years of history. I have a hell of a time just reading topics like Blackguitaristz's or anyone who learned on the old school stuff.

Okay, so my point is I'm so glad that we have something so wonderful to fall back on (the music) Even when times are so crazy and there is so much negativety . Because no wack thing Prince does can take away from the music he made and is making. Its stronger than him.

Not so sure I agree with everything's that been said here.

But I pretty much have turned a deaf ear to the whole YouTube/lawsuit talk and all of the negative stuff Prince is doing in his "free time"...

He can do whatever he wants with his free time. I really don't care. Whatever works.

In the end, it is all about the music and chilling with the persona within the albums. Each album is more or less "who Prince was at time of creation" immortalized in melodies and lyrics. Melodies and lyrics that come from Prince's heart... and with that being the case, his heart is a very powerful thing.

They always say its whats on the inside that counts. Prince is no exception.

Making music makes him happy and I'm happy if he's happy.
I'm very curious in the direction he'll go next musically as well. Because the last album, despite what anyone says, tells me that he's on the verge of something big. If he continues from that vein of inspiration, there's no telling what'll come next.
And what goes on around him will be reflected in his music. Wouldn't it be something if he saw the supporters amongst the haters and wrote a song about us? That's something we can hope 4

well said.if all these fansites and such go away.i won't die and neither will anyone else.i love talking about him and his music with other fans.and i sure love seeing old videos of him,especially since i wasn't around(or interested maybe)when they actually went down.but life will go on.i still have all the albums,videos and such of my own to appreciate.when he comes to my house and takes away all of them personally,then i'll be pissed.i don't agree with his point of view or his tactics but its his choice.and in the end he is only hurting himself in the process.there will those that will turn on him because of this.i won't because at the end of the day he's still one of the greatest(the greatest imo)artists of all time and a kickass performer.that doesn't excuse him for being an ass.it's kinda like r.kelly peeing on little girls or mj touching little boys(bad analogies,sorry).you have to take the good with the bad.prince is crazy.we all know that more than anyone.if he wasn't he wouldn't have made all the great music he has.he just doesn't want us to see or talk about it.we don't understand it but that's just the way it is.i'm not gonna boycott his music and if he comes to my town(i doubt it,but)i'm gonna go see him because even if he is a jerk in real life,his music is still awesome and he can still play and that's all that matters to me.i don't work for him.

None of us like to have people talking about us negatively, it can push you into an emotional corner, and when you fight to protect youself, because that is all Prince can do at times...You get criticized for that....Prince doesn't hold grudges....when have you known him to be about hate? never. He just never has. Sometimes standing up for love...good love, can make you look like a fighter. And that's all it is...fighting for your rights. And we all deserve that respect.

Oddly, I'm not mad at him like everyone else seems 2b. I'm just saddened and angered by the sudden change in attitude towards him. I had to dive into the Planet Earth album (I was only going to play a song or two) and slowly, it helped me relax and it helped me breath again.

See? When it comes down to it, his music is the most important piece of him that we could have. And that's what we really should be glad for. The rest of this stuff just seems "trivial"... I can live without fansites (have for a couple of months, actually). I don't need picture threads either. Just talking about him is enough and that's what e-mail is for, haha.

The music is something that he wrote himself and distributed to share with us. He can never take that away even if he wanted to (which I doubt cuz it kinda defeats the purpose).

What that means is...if Prince keeps getting away with this foolishness...we can't discuss Prince and you can't either!

If we don't stand up to him, where's he gonna stop? Will we have to send our Ipods in for inspection for bootlegs? Will he send hit squads to our weddings, parties, or jam sessions to see if we're playing his music?

While you "its about the music guys" are all snug in your delusion, try to remember that this really is about more than Prince!

This has the stench of record label execs all over it! If Prince succeeds in his shenanigans, he will set precedence and the rights of consumers will be chipped away by the corporate greedy to within a centimeter of anything, anywhere near right! And YOU and YOURS will be affected, too!

And for me, I see little of the bad as it is. There's very small percentage of songs he's written that I deem "unlistenable"

Jughead, Arrogance, The Flow, 3 Chains O' Gold, Freaks on this side, Push it up, Now... see, only 7 out of... 100's of his songs that I've heard up to this point.

My favorite albums are Planet Earth, 1999, Purple Rain, TGE, Come, and Parade... not in any order... call me diluted if I put PE in my top 6...

This is a rough time, but I'll still be here. A lot of fans here are trying to get out of 3121.com but when this goes away and Prince comes to your town, a good portion of you will be going through hell and highwater to see him. It always happens that way.

Look, I support keeping the fansites up but I'm still staying a fan. I still need P to come to NYC and give me that purplefunk that I need. Even if I'm the only one at MSG, then hey. I'll have more room to dance. LOL
