It is going to be remade by Robert Rodriguez (who has worked with Selma Hayek who is friends with Penelope Cruz), and it's a movie that he wrapped the Diamonds and Pearls and Symbol album around at times... samples, references, snippets of the film in his videos...

Maybe it will also let him put out some nice WEIRD prince songs.

Oh God. Why remake it? I loved the original for all it's tacky glory.



The strange thing is that I didn't catch the Barbarella references originally cause I knew nothing about the move. It was only a year after the symbol album was released that I saw the movie and made the connection to all his references to the movie in D&P and .

If Prince did Barbarella, that would be uber awesome so long as he went balls out with it and not do another Batman. Of course, given it's subject matter, I would be surprised to see Prince agreeing to do it anymore

I don't see P being involved because of his new beliefs. If this was in the 90's, yeah, he would have submitted tracks like Endorphin Machine, which would have been perfect. Maybe they can use some of his tracks from that period, if he doesn't flip out over it. But I don't think P could write something new for the film if he tried. He would have to go to the vault.

I doubt Prince would be involved now. I don't think his religion would "allow" him to be attached to something like this.

And it might be awhile before this movie sees the light of day. Rodriguez is having some problems securing financing after the first movie studio pulled out because they disagreed with him putting his new fiancee (Rose McGowan) in the lead.

Overall, I agree with ButterScotchPimp, I don't see Prince getting involved with it.

HOWEVER, the people involved in the remake are people I could see Prince working with, so it's hard to say.

If this were 10-15 years ago, I'd say, "Yeah, he's in," but now, I'd be surprised.

Prince reference Barbarella? I know He references Tony Barbarella..but samles and other things? :confused:

IMO, I seriously doubt he will be involved.
