I'm a little jealous that you don't have those other albums yet because there's there's nothing like hearing the crazy brilliance of his music for the first time and have it blow you away. Sigh. If you want guitar solos, you should get Purple Rain or SOTT next, although Bambi from Prince and I'm Yours from For You each contain kick ass solos. (Although personally I'd recommend Parade, Prince or Lovesexy.) I agree completely. There is nothing like the first time. Heh, I keep a record of what happens the first time I listen to the albums I own. But sometimes, as special as the first listen is, it hasn't always panned out for me. It takes a couple of listens to figure out what's what. Dirty Mind is one of the fortunate few that I loved instantly. It's exhausting having to work with an album until it sounds good. I put the most time into TGE and 1999 and those are 2 of my favorites. Purple Rain is a must-have for all Prince collections because even though its talked about ALL the time no matter who you ask, there is great music in there that is only rivaled by 1999 and SOTT (at least that's what I hear). Personally, I'd go with Parade myself. A great album that's different than any of his other work. And get "Under the Cherry Moon" along with it. Really good movie. At HMV (a music store in the UK) they have Prince cds on offer two for ten pounds-I couldnt believe my eyes and the Purple Rain dvd was only 3 pounds they are practically giving Prince stuff away-so I purchased myself Sign O the times and 1999, but they also had Diamonds and Pearls, Lovesexy, Grafitti Bridge, Parade, Purple Rain, Come, For You and Prince. Oh Princey if your free for a couple of hours...If you aint busy for the next 7 years...Lets Pretend were married, and go all night.. | |
