Is Prince's CRYSTAL BALL Album good?

Just wondered who has got this album? and what they think of it, good or not? I am thinking of getting it, but not heard any songs from the album...is it worth getting?

Buy it.
Then listen to it.
If you like it, then it was worth getting.
If you don't like it, then it probably wasn't.

It is a good album, as long as you realize it's not an album per se, but a collection of rarities and outtakes from the 85-85 period and the 93-94 period.

i got it, listened to the 3 disc set (almost) once.
actually i couldn't make it thru the whole thing.

pooptoast

however, the 4th "BONUS" disc, The Truth is one of my favorite Prince albums.
it's straight acoustic. absolutely BEAUTIFUL STUFF.
i will probably never tire of this album.
it's all about personal preferences, i guess.

chair

for what it's worth, i got my CD mag ripped off outta my vehicle.
so i chose to purchase CB & Emancipation a 2nd X.
therefore, i was pretty serious about keeping The Truth in my collection.

Yuh huh! Its well worth getting! As well as unreleased/ shelved tracks (e.g. Crystal Ball, Sexual Suicide) you are getting good remixes/ reworkings of previously released ones (So Dark, Tell Me How U Wanna Be Done, 18 and Over, etc), live material (Days of Wild), gorgeous ballads (Crucial, She Gave Her Angels), acapella (An Honest Man) and Camille stuff (Good Love). I think its a great variety - a must-have and a great body of work that showcases his talents.

So...yes! wink
Sounds like a real man to me...mind if I turn on the radio?

I think there's one really good cd's worth of stuff among the three discs. Two if you count the Truth.

I've been considering this album for a while myself.

The whole prince period fascinates me (my siggy says so) and I've considered this because its full of outtakes and demos from his years as prince.

I figure that if I'm into prince's material that it's a must-have.

However, Emancipation takes priority over this for me because that album came about with a purpose and he was promoting this baby like crazy. And why wouldn't he? He claims its the album he was born to make, its dedicated to Mayte: the love of his life, and it was a time in his life where he was extremely happy.

Crystal Ball is more of a compliation album, I think. But if I came by it or if I start to get really interested in some extra prince material, I'll get it. But I might hold off on it for a while.

I remember buying it quite vividly

when i started listening to it, i actually had to turn it off for a bit 5 or 6 tracks in

basically, i was smiling so much my cheeks were really starting to hurt!

it's amazing

and when it comes to 'the truth' - 'Don't play me' remains one of my all time favourite Prince tracks

Friggin' FABULOUS from beginning to end...including The Truth!

Maybe he will celebrate the ten year anniversary with Crystal Ball II.

fo sho worth getting! its not the kind of outtake collection to get if yer looking for strictly 80s only outtakes (i.e. extra loveable, moonbeam levels, etc)but its got its moments and the truth more than fills the void for such songs missing cool
