Dont' get me wrong. I've been a fan since 2002 and love being a part of the community. I got to meet fans from the org. at different occasions and spent a wonderful time witht them...BUT...

shouldn't some of us reconsider their degree of fanatism?

there are some times when I get carried away. I realize that.
It's hard to control myself because... think of who we're talking about here. Can't help, but be a little crazy because of how much his music says to each of us and how it makes our days brighter when we give him the time of day.

I join in on the fun of picture threads and the "romanctic intentions" type of threads because with music as heartfelt as his, it's hard not to want that attitude to welcome you every day.

I'd like to say, though, that even though I sometimes act like one, I don't call myself a "fan"... I say I admire Prince for his dedication and the quality of his work. And I'm always perfectly honest about how I feel about it and him.

He's never afraid to say what he feels. Why not follow his example?

And if I get flamed for this, so be it. I'm sticking 2 my guns this time.

That was a sweet reply DreamyPopRoyalty, and I like knowing that Prince has, a group of people that would surround him, hopefully in love, there is never anything wrong with people banding together around, professional music, peaceful lyrics, and even a sexually, honest man, with a beautiful nature. All it is really, is a kind adoration. To love, is something we do for ourselves, and loving Prince would never be anything you could possibly regret, it's the things we struggle with loving that make our daily existence a challenge.

I try to keep my "fanaticsm" under control... and the first step I took towards that is not referring to myself as a "fan"... But when people ask me "so you're a Prince fan"... I just nod. I don't refer to myself as such, but if its the only way people'll understand, I'll say yes when they ask me if I am.

He's a brilliant, talented man who also got it goin' on in the looks dept. I gotta give the brotha his props (And my money.) It's all good fun, as long as none yall try to have your way with him like violet the organ grinder at the Koko a few months ago. That broad was nuts, we just having fun and enjoyhng his talent. I guess the word fanatic is scary, but do many of us really fit that definition?

Do you mean on the .org or in general? Fans sites are the current national pastime. Everyone has one...and they're all filled with "fanatics". Just go to YouTube or Myspace, you'll see. People need something to do. No one actually does anything anymore...not when everything and anything in the world is a url away. I'm not saying it's not extreme, but it's the way people communicate and socialize today...so, on average, what most do here, is not so out of the ordinary.
