If there's something I don't like about Prince, it's the videos. I haven't really seen a thought provoking or just plain cool video by P. They all seem rushed. With the exception of Three Chains O' Gold and Partyman, his videos all seem to have very small budgets. I hate to compare him to MJ, but I think if he were to ever take advice from him, it would be in this department. I'd loveto see Prince work with some great directors.

"Diamonds and Pearls" is beautiful, and, "Willing and Able," might not have been too expensive to make, but it's one of my favorites. You don't need a lot of money to make a good video.

In retrospect, some of his videos did more than they're given credit for. Little Red Corvette was a perfect introduction to Prince for MTV watchers. Kiss was cool and minimalist, like the song itself. The video for 7 was a nice in-joke for fans more than something that would be logical to the average viewer. And Partyman remains one of my favorites of his, but perhaps more in a guilty pleasure kind of way. Admittedly, most of his videos were cheap or even crap, but it didn't matter. Nobody watches videos anymore anyway, and maybe videos weren't ever that important to him ever (despited the fact that he made videos for almost everything).

"Alphabet Street" was pretty bad. "Cream" was dumb. Other than that, I don't find that much fault with his others. I've seen way worse from other artists. As long as Prince was in them, shaking his little tush, I can't complain all that much. booty!

My favorite Prince video would probably be Kiss, but the most thought-provoking video, and one I actually think he spent a lot of time on would have to be Cinnamon Girl. The concept was intricate, and the video matched its complex nature. Beautiful scenes, and the message really accented the whole thing.

All I'm saying is I'd like to see Prince do something different with his vids. It dosn't have to be a high budget affair, but I'd like to see some kind of narrative or experimental idea thrown into the mix.

LOL big time, when i first replied to this post, it somehow got lost, and i had to re-write what i posted, but in the first one i also mentioned Cinnamon Girl, the video was actually the first that entered my head when i read this post, a brilliant video, very complex, to a song that most people thought was rubbish till they saw the video, although, must be said, most people still dont get the video wink

Those are two that I love. Cream was hot and sexy, and Alphabet St. was just weird and goofy fun. Eye Wish U Heaven was one that really needed some extra work.

Not sure who you're calling dumb, but whatever. I meant that Prince made tons of videos that he locked away in the vault. He has a lot of videos that we've never seen. My point was that, despite that fact, the video art form may not have been where he chose to exercise his talents, and he's probably not going to start devoting a ton of energy to videos now, considering no one watches videos much (not to mention the fact that he's suing youtube, etc.).

His videos may not be the most expensive one ever made, but a lot of them catch people's attention. I started to get interested in his music when I watched the video on "When doves cry" many years back. My all time favourite is Kiss, Thevies in the temple and Black sweats. What's yours?

watch "Scandalous" for pure minimalism, Diamonds and pearls is worth if just for the bit where he bounces of the sofa and does the splits
