Symbol I knew the Symbol was a mix of Mars and Venus signs (male and female) to imply an element of androgyny.
However, I only just saw how much of it also comes from the alchemical symbol for Soapstone (thank you FAQ's !). Does anyone know the relevance of this ? Is there another symbolic meaning to it or did P just think "Hey, it looks a bit like a horn/trumpet with the male and female signs" ?

Another well known aspect is the search for the Philosopher's Stone, the possession of which would supposedly give a person the ability to transmute gold or to have eternal life... http://www.purplehell.com...lchemy.htm
