"i got oil on my hands,but i'm a funky man!" was watching p's concert with miles davis.how awesome is it?been meaning to watch the whole thing but i can't get past the half-hour rendition of "it's gonna be a beautiful night" at the end.i mean its so cool.he just goes on and on saying random stuff like this,snapping on people(brooks,you ben casey looking) and infusing a bunch of old songs in the song.doing all his crazy dances(at one point he even does the tin man,which is hilarious).cat is incredible here too,how she always keeps up with him.i love her.i wish i was able to see him around this time(i was only 2  ).the show must have kicked ass(like it when he kicks our asses too,lol).i hope i get to see him live before he retires. This is the 31st Dec 1987 Paisley Park concert, it's only available as a bootleg. He also does a version of Purple Rain that starts with Old Lang Syne, quite funny because he only knows the first lyric of the song. I didn't get to see the Sign o' The Times tour because he cancelled the show he was going to do at Knebworth, UK at the time, so it's good to see a tour of SOTT, although this was a mix of the end of SOTT with the beginnings of Lovesexy. The offical SOTT video was heavily edited, so was not really a true representation of the tour. I like the bit in this one where someone called Matt gives him a rope to pull down the balloons, but nothing happens, and then he says "Matt, come and take your rope. Modern technology!". | |
