Elton John Talks About Prince My wife and I went to go see Elton John in concert in Columbia, Missouri on Friday, October 5th, and after about 2 hours of the concert had passed, he came to the point in the show that he was going to introduce his band.
But before he mentioned any of there names, he said the following (not exact): "I was in London a short time ago and had the Great Opportunity to see Prince in concert and also had the chance to play a couple of songs with him as well. Prince made sure to point out several times throughout the show "Real Music By Real Musicians", which I started to think "How wonderful it was that there is someone else like me that does not like the pre-recorded acts of today. So if I could be so bold as to borrow Prince's line "Real Music By Real Musicians" I would like to introduce my band." It was actually really cool to hear. I also wanted to state that I was not sure how much I would enjoy Elton John's concert, but it was "EXCELLENT". He started at 8:05 p.m. and walked off the stage at 10:55 p.m. I also was in shock to learn that he has had the same drummer since (1968) DAMN. The 1 & Only

Prince once snubbed Elton John at an awards show (or some celebrity gathering), in the 1980's. That's what Elton John said in an interview I saw on television in the late 1980's or early 1990's. [Edited 10/8/07 8:34am]

Prince was a little miffed that Elton said he needed an editor, but then added "Elton's cool, though." My Legacy

Elton's one of those acts that I wouldn't be so excited about seeing, but once they started playing classic after classic, with top notch musicianship & professionalism, I'm sure I'd have a great time--Like Clapton, Billy Joel, Paul McCartney... My Legacy

Elton John had a string of hit songs and albums that was nothing short of amazing. Almost everything he did for a long time was a masterpiece, and he was as prolific as Prince during his peak.
It's only in later years (i.e. Disney-era) that his legacy has taken a hit. I was watching Inside The Actor's Studio and the guest was Elton John. I was shocked to hear that he had vocal chord surgery (to remove a pollup) which lowered his singing voice. I think that was the turning point. Regardless, it is nice to see the real musicians sticking together.

I love Elton John and not just because we have the same initials. Benny and the Jets was the first song that made me break from listening to only Motown soul music (not counting The Partridge Family and the Osmonds). I soon discovered Billy Joel, Paul McCartney, Barry Manilow, and Kenny Rogers. I think I was about 8.

I'm not really a fan of Elton John, and I think nothing is more boring than Elton John records, but a couple of years ago I won tickets to see him on his Solo Piano tour, just him and the piano! The show lasted about 2 and half a hours and it was awesome! I never noticed before what a great voice he has! Also, he really had some great songs back in the seventies (and occasionly in the nineties)!

They should build a school, and buy instruments for under-priviledged geniuses...
Don't give away money. Just buy the instruments, and ship them to whomever needs them. Whomever ever wants to be a "real musician". Used instruments too. Obviously, band in school isn't enough. I don't know if VH1 is providing the instruments to schools or individuals. These two can change it.

I don't know if VH1 is providing the instruments to schools or individuals. These two can change it. VH1's "Save the Music" is a wonderful program which brings music programs to schools that have none at all. VH1 will provide some funding if the school district agrees to do things like provide a place for the program and an instructor. "Grammy's in the Schools" is another wonderful program that will help a school start from scratch in creating a program but it also gives grants to under funded music programs. I'm glad he likes the fact that Prince believes in real musicians making real musician but he needs to realize something else about Prince. Real music isn't the only thing missing these days. Uptempo music is also missing and Prince is one of the few that still makes it. Elton should get inspired and start making more jams like "The Bitch Is Back" and "Philadelphia Freedom" instead of the slow adult contemporary and Disney bullshit he's been making for years. Andy is a four letter word.

Circle of Life doesn't get you moving? but I agree, it's hard to remember that his songs were really good! The Bitch, Philadelphia, & Saturday Night's Alright were hot! [Edited 10/9/07 13:14pm] My Legacy
