can anybody help me with information about The Family for my thesis? Hi everybody,
Currently, I'm writing my thesis about cover versions and how the can become as - if not more - successful as the original version of the song. I'm a student at the School of Audio Engineering (SAE) in Amsterdam (The Netherlands) and am attending the BA course which is almost finished. I'll be finishing this course with a thesis. For this thesis I'm analyzing different cover versions and the original tracks and among them is also "Nothing Compares 2 U" from The Family, covered by Sinéad O'Connor, as you know. Although there is plenty of information about the other artists I'm analyzing (Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Cash, Nine Inch Nails), there is (too) little information about The Family. I cant even find the original track of Nothing Compares 2 U by The family, not in (online) recordstores or whatsoever. All I get is Prince's version from 1993 and Sinéad O'Connors version. I cant even find a sample of the song. Well, yesterday I found this version: [Link snip  - luv4u]
Although the MP3 information says it is from Prince, 1993, it sounds totally different than the real 1993 version of Prince, released on his The Hits album. So I wonder, can you please have a listen to the track and tell me whether or not this is the version from The Family? Or does anybody know a place where I can get it. Thanks! | |

No. It's not the Family LP version. Sounds like a different mix

I can't contribute on "The Family" perspective, However, for a Psychology class I wrote on an emotional topic, comparing, John Lennon's, "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" with Dianne Steinbergs....
