Falsetto or low voice? Do you prefer Prince's falsetto or his low voice?

Good question. I guess for me it depends on the genre on the song. Whether it's R&B, Rock, or Funk.
Also define "Low voice". How low are we talkin'? Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

I think his falsetto is great for ballads and love songs. In the dance and rock songs I prefer his lower voice.
In a live video (I believe from the 1999 tour) he sang "Do me baby" by changing his voice from falsetto to low voice in one line. Man, that was so awesome.

If I had to choose one or the other based on
Low voice= his lower voiced counterpart in "The Dance" and Falsetto= "Kiss" or "Pheromone" I'd go with low voice every time. had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone

I have one show where Prince on the 1999 Tour sings Do, Me Baby and he changes back and forth from falsetto into his regular voice. It was crazy. Some people think I'm kinda cute

Falsetto. Only for the fact that not everyone can do it and to me it's what makes Prince Prince...

Like when he starts whispering my ear... its enough to drive me insane. Makes me feel like I'm floating on air. I don't think I ever foresaw that when I chose my u/n. had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone

Falsetto on everything! Hell, when I first started listening to Prince, that's all he sang in. There was no mistaking that sassy falsetto with anyone else's either. Andy is a four letter word.

All of these guys can do it: http://en.wikipedia.org/w...:Falsettos Point taken. I guess I really meant that not everyone does it nowadays. Or not to the point that Prince does. I'm a singer too and I can do a pretty good Prince falsetto. But since the 70's when most R & B singers did sing in falsetto it has definately tapered off...

I think Robin Thicke and Justin Timberlake have good falsettos.

That's because most men these days are too damn insecure with their own manhood to sing in a falsetto. Andy is a four letter word.

Philip Bailey from Earth, Wind, and Fire had a great one also. And don't forget the guy with the falsetto from The Stylistics. Prince's falsetto had a certain sassiness about it that set him apart from the rest. Even when he was played on the radio following another guy with a falsetto, you knew it was Prince when you heard the voice. Andy is a four letter word.

Either way, it can't be denied that Prince probably has one of the best ranges, if not the best range, of any artist who releases pop/rock/R&B records.
But 2 me, any guy who reaches high notes that I can't has a great range. But he's got an amazing voice at both ends of his register. Like I said, though, his lower voice is more dreamy had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone

Falsetto is where he excels. Andy is a four letter word.

How about the The Delfonics? "Didn't I Blow You're Mind", "La La Means I Love You".
