Turn on the lights Prince seemed to say this quite a bit during the shows I saw in London. And the vast majority of the times I don't think the lights got turned on. Is this just a way he has of communicating something to the band?
Like a point at which to segue back to the original song when they've sampled a bot of something else...like the housequake bit back to controversy in the sky news clip? Anyone?

It's a cue for the lighting technician to turn on the "house lights",basically the lights that hang over the crowd, its a way for the performer to see the crowd in full light basically Like a Gb Major with a E in the bass

I know that's what it's supposed to mean, but a lot of the time at the o2 and Indigo when he said it, nothing actually happened lights wise. Can't imagine that he'd have such a sloppy technician.

Maybe that's why he kept saying it...in hopes that it would actually happen! He gets it! That's why the ladies love him...

Yeh he said that the night I saw him a couple of times, but I just put it down to him being ringmaster of the stage-it did actually happen a couple of times, like when he got a man up to dance and Prince said 'put the lights on him' and they did. Oh Princey if your free for a couple of hours...If you aint busy for the next 7 years...Lets Pretend were married, and go all night..
