Wish I could seen this show.

It was apparently professionally filmed, so there's a good chance of it seeing the light of day.

I filmed the Winehouse number from the top of the balcony (almost got chucked out for doing it & had to pretend to delete it infront of the Goon Squad after I was caught), and have been playing it on a loop ever since. Stunning performance from them both. My favourite moment of the entire tour probably.

To all the Amy Winehouse haters... Have you listened to her sing?! Or do you all diss her because of her demons?
On the same premise... Do y'all hate:
Charlie Parker
Billie Holiday
Jimi Hendrix
John Coltrane
I don't really need to go on do I?
The list is endless... and people you love to listen to / watch / read no doubt.
You shouldn't blieve all you read in the rags.

I was there on friday night and she was great. Also saw her at Glastonbury and she blew the place apart... (Although I have to admitt she was a little tipsy!)

This girl has a problem... Do you really think she wants to be cutting herself and blocking shit out with drink and drugs?
It's a disease... She is ill. I for one hopes she beats her demons and comes out the other side.
She is an amazing talent and needs our (UK) support.

I don't think that Prince would have had her on stage if she was a mess on the night would he?

Plus... I kinda have a little thing for her... But that's something different!

She's overrated and has all the vocal tone of a braying sheep. You're obviously buying into the "tortured soul" bullshit. It's a shame that Prince is too.

"tortured soul" bullshit...

oh dear...
I have a couple of friends that have had the same kind of problems and they're not artists... I can just relate that's all.

A little compassion doesn't hurt in life... you should try it.

See you next tuesday...

People just don't know. Her recent reappearance at an awards show where she performed this song almost shyly and incredibly was exactly like the scene in Purple Rain where he sings Purple Rain... but with Winehouse and the shit she is going through... it is real.

OHHHH HELLLL NOOOO

did you seriously just compare an Amy Winehouse performance to the thing that is that Purple Rain scene???

Yes you are a fellow fan, and I have love for ya'll...but that is NEAR BLASPHEMY...and I SHALL cleanse my eyes out with soap since I did not read that, and your entry does not exist lol

...she honestly needs to count her blessings and stop acting like a spoiled brat though because there is always someone waiting in the wings to take your place...and i still think she's overrated..her voice isnt THAT one of a kind like a Prince, Sly, Lauryn, Chaka, etc...and honestly if someone needs props it's her production team and band members(who are the only ones I feel sorry for who have to put up with her behavior)...if this same production by Mark Ronson and Salaam Remi was given to Jill Scott, Nikka Costa, Mary J, Teena Marie, or Chaka would we even be speaking of Amy right now?? confused

you can deny the truth, Purple Rain's drama was fiction, this was real:

... and after her long series of no shows and dramatic shit in the media, blood, drugs, vomit and all.

You completely miss my point. She is nothing unusual musically; the media loves a "fuck-up" and that's why she sells. I feel for you for being naive beyond belief.

my humble opinion:

This performance and any others will NEVER compare to anything in Purple Rain...and who says Prince hasn't felt pain and loss which he thought of when he did that historic scene??.....honestly her so called "drama" PALES in comparison to the drama Prince,Tina Turner,Marvin Gaye, Ray Charles, Michael Jackson, and other more talented and hard working artists had to deal with to get where they are today.....so she can cry me a river about her "problems"

besides again in my opinion her drama I believe is beyond drugs...her personality is just FUCKED up and she is taking way too many things for granted or else way too big headed...Mary J. Blige did drugs too,Whitney Houston, heck Lauryn Hill may be on drugs and many others but you never once heard of them disrespecthing their fans by spitting at them, throwing stuff, cursing, etc...drugs and alcohol can make you do some things but I feel if your personality was already fucked up then drugs/alcohol is just going to make it 10 times worse

I still like her music though, but will never pay to see her live so i'm glad you fans got to see her without risking wasting additional money wink

cool Man! I do hope this performance & his concerts ends up on a dvd. I would love to see this. I did not think she was gonna show up at any of his shows. That had to be one of the best moments. Amy Winehouse is one big mess....who seems for some reason does not want to sober up. She needs to get help before she ends up dead. It would be such a waste of talent. She is a great singer. cool

U are all such a sensitive bunch!
What in blazes happened to free speech?!

okay here are my two cents once and for all:

Amy Winehouse WAS immensely talented, she is actually a very good guitarist but no one sees this as the reason she is so popular is because the media thrives on negativity and Amy right now is the epitome of this.

If she died 2morrow what would she be remembered for? Surely not her and PRince and that's a fact!

She is spoilt and even from the "Frank" sessions, she always had a drug problem, a hit record was ironically the worst thing that could happen 2 AmyAmyAmy.

They say any publicity is good publicity - I guess if one is satisfied with being the object of ridicule (especially if they bring it on themselves), then Ms. Whingebag embodies the aforementioned.

Me personally, I think she's overrated (yet twice deserved of an Ivor Novello award) and that her appearance with Prince was a PR stunt for Prince to show that he is honouring the UK audience by playing with it's most highest profile artist - no matter how the hell they got there - he'll only prove me wrong if she ends up on a record with him!

The Purple Rain performance is fiction in a movie set after fictional scenes of trouble. The Amy Winehouse performance is a real performance at an awards show after real trouble. They both serve the same emotional purpose, the crucified swan song, but one is real! Prince hijacked the song for his own show, and then he hijacked the singer/songwriter too. He knows its cool, even if others don't. lol

Hey man...
Truce...

If that's what you ment then I totally agree with you... She does sell more because the media loves her... The media loves her because she is a fuck up...

I still think she is talanted... But I guess that's personal choice and that's cool.

I just hope she gets clean and makes some great music.

Just listened to this track. Amy's voice is a little weak, but Prince's solos between the choruses are amazing.

Amy is fantastic. Her Back to Black cd is amazing. I've had the cd for almost a year and I still listen to it regularly. I hope she gets her act together so she can release another amazing cd next year.

This is what I DO know./...
IF Prince wants her out there with him. He is undoubtedly saving her life. Think he can't? He can. I only hope she walks away from Blake for one moment. The collaboration is already written in Prince's head believe that. It will rock and roll. And she will live. Not like the others b4 her.

Amy is amazing. She has amazing tone, style, range and musical instincts. She's one of the few great pop talents of the last few years. And people forget that she has just released two albums. Imagine the potential growth.
