If Jackson has an arena to fit the stage, I'm sure he would show up there. The Musicology tour was a HUGE tour only because he played big arenas that could handle "round" stages. The O2 shows are considered "round" shows also. I went to Bosier City, Louisiana to see the "Musicology" tour. It could have easily been done in the coliseum here in Jackson. I'm sure it also has more to do with economics than anything. How many people in Jackson would be willing to pay $100 to see someone like him. In a "major" city like Houston, Dallas, NYC, LA, Chicago, etc., it's not uncommon to spend $100 or more per ticket for an arena show.
When he came here in 1997, the coliseum was almost sold out. There were also people at the concert who had driven from surrounding states so that helped to fill it up also. It is more of a money thing though because he performed in Biloxi in 2004. Biloxi is on the coast and was really booming with all the casinos before Hurricane Katrina flattened the area a year later. I've always said that building casinos in Jackson would bring it out of it's financial rut. However, there are all these so-called religious people that don't want them here (the same people that drive out of town to casinos every weekend). Prince always skipped over us though even in the early years before "Purple Rain". He came here in 1980 as the opening act for Rick James. Rick James came here three or four times after that tour. Shalamar, Lakeside, and The Whispers came here every summer for three or four years. The majority of the R&B groups from the 1980s came here multiple times except for Prince. Besides, you can always drive to Lousiana, Texas or Georgia to see the man. U r a fan aren't u?
Yeah, I've done that in the past but a trip like that now in my present financial situation would put me in the poor house. Hell, that "Musicology" tour helped to get my credit card in the shape it's in now. . . . [Edited 9/23/07 21:08pm] Andy is a four letter word.

I think he will go back to L.A. and live for awhile,my guess is he will probably take time off like he said. But probably will do gigs here and there in various night clubs like he was before.

bring the stage ..keep the tired old setlist from london man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

YES! I need to hear the song "3121" live. And now!!! The version he sang at First Ave on 7/7/7 was, by far, the best song I've ever heard him play live. Man, was it wonderful. Even my husband - not a Prince fan, not by a long shot - found it riveting. [Edited 9/24/07 10:33am] [Edited 9/24/07 10:34am] "She made me glad to be a man"

Prince, I sure hope you hurry home after your sabbatical. There's many princes all over Europe and other places but you're the only Prince we have in America...
and the only one we want... Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

[Edited 9/22/07 10:56am] No, he wasn't. I don't remember exactly when the Musicology tour ended in 2004, but he played some dates with Tamar late in 2005 and early 2006, was on SNL in February of 2006, released 3121 in March of 2006, played Vegas in May of 2006 and was back in Vegas in November of that year. And there were quite a few TV appearances interspersed in there. I don't know how you get "gone for almost three years" out of that. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

The only break Prince should take will probably be done recording new music. As a spoilt rotten greedy fan....I expect nothing less

LA would be sweet. But, I'd prefer a big Staples show, compared to a "more intimate" setting -- for $1500.
