I'm just wondering about Moonbeam's interpretation of the one 80's-Prince throwback he threw on an album of new directions for him (some which are piss poor like "Resolution")

okay...i got killer heartburn right now and that may be clouding my thoughts but....huh?

lol

sorry...

1. I'm wondering why Moonbeam interpreted it as a negative message about dumping a girl after getting a baby.

2. I feel that regardless of it being a rehash of an old school Prince sound/theme, it is very pretty, has a surreal funk pop feel, and is MUCH better than "Resolution" for my ears!

its boring rehashed paint by numbers prince...i just can't fathom how folks can repeatedly throw snarky comments about others wanting to hear a "purple rain 2" but are willing to accept prince's umpteenth version of the same damn song he has been recording from the very begining.

the song is tired....the arrangement is the same as before...and the lyrics are trite and the song title is pathetic.

why folks accept this crap from a musical genius is beyond me...

The title track and Somewhere Here On Earth for one if they're smart. wink

Yes, the ones they usually mention are Planet Earth, Somehere Here on Earth, The One U Wanna C, Chelsea Rodgers...

Maybe it's too Hip Hoppish 4 some critics, I think that could be possible 4 Mr. Goodnight another of my favorites.

It's not an issue of being "socially acceptable". It cheapens the whole song. It makes it seem like Prince is just looking to find a woman to be a baby factory, and then kick to the curb.

huh?

"To build a house together the thing that matters more
Is under the floor
A strong foundation that last forever more"

I think this is a very cool typical Prince brand romantic song, and the part about "Deep down I know what U want
You want your girlfriends to hate U" is a genius lyric, like old Prince. The whole song is like late 80's prince.

Because "baby mama" carries very negative, unromantic connotations.

From urbandictionary:

A term used to define an unmarried young woman (but can be a woman of any age) who has had a child. As mentioned before in another definition, most of the time it is used for when it was simply a sexual relationship, compared to ex-wife or girlfriend. Usually this has a negative connotation, a lot of baby mamas are seen as desperate, gold digging, emotionally starved, shady women who had a baby out of spite or to keep a man. Sometimes they may act like this because of missed child support payments, unfulfilled promises by the father, or convenient sex by the father. Either or both may exist in any situation.
