Reliving "The Moment"

Getting 2 know Prince these past 7 months, I'll always remember the different moments I had with him. Picking out my first album. Watching "Purple Rain" in its entirity 4 the first time.

But there's nothing like "The Moment" where u know that you're officially becoming one of his many faithful followers.
It's very vague, but my first moment was the last 10 minutes of PR. When I truly saw him for who he was and I'd always remember him 4 it.

But maybe even more importantly, "The Moment" when I truly knew that I wanted 2 get 2 know him and what he's all about.
SuperBowl XLI

I saw it again just now and I could still remember how it affected me. My eyes glazed over, unable to look away and he made electric guitar sound beautiful like nothing else I'd heard b4.
I'm never going 2 forget that because that was the moment. Everything b4 it, I saw him a certain way... not quite how I see him now, but I crossed over then and officially knew I wanted 2 know him after that night.

I'll most likely revisit this by the time the next SuperBowl comes around. But it's just indescribable. The Moment when u first know u wanted to know Prince & his music.

Anyone else remember "The Moment" and reminisce about it every now and then?
I'd like 2 hear about it. The experiences might be different, but the reactions are all gonna b the same.

I first heard Prince (and knew who he was vs hearing a song and years later finding out it was Prince lol ) on a jukebox in a bowling alley on an Air Force base in Germany. The songs were 1999 and LRC

I came back Stateside. My sister had the tape and I wore it out over the summer. I tried to steal it from her, but she found it before she left.

Anyways, once we got to our new station, I bought my own 1999, Controversy and PR all at the same time. Loved the music, thought Prince was fine as hell and thought his videos playing on Mtv could have been better giggle

Then PR finally made it's way to the Base theater. I knew the music by heart and the friends and I that went to go see it drove the other folks in the theater CRAZY because we sang every song...loud and badly falloff

Then...the moment...Lights go red....Prince starts singing Darlin Nikki...

Reliving the moment...In 1979 I was 24, and I called a radio station in the
middle of the night. I won ten albums. I hadn't yet heard of Prince until I
drove to the station that day to pick up my winnings...I do not remember what
ten albums they were at the time. Prince was on the outside facing the front
of my passenger seat, as we drove home to the record player. I fell in love
with the cover, before the vinyl slid onto the turntable...I heard, "I wanna be
your lover," at home, before I began hearing the song over the air. I was
hooked on Prince like an ancient curse before the first note pierced my ears
through the speakers. Within the next week, I found, "For You." And bought
every record in succession ever since. I learned supernaturally, that he was
my brother....a long time ago. My baby brother.

It was definitely the Purple Rain movie for me too.

A friend of mine got a poster of Prince during the Purple Rain era where he's standing there in white leather pants with his chest hair exposed. I think he was holding a rose. That was the moment I knew I would always be in lust with him. love

I'd had little bits of exposure to his scene for years -- an appearance by The Time on TV, the Controversy poster my sister's roommate had up in her dorm, hearing his singles on the radio and thinking some were catchy (although I had no idea who sang them). But I didn't really pay attention until one day when I was lounging in my room and the TV spot for Purple Rain came on. "Let's Go Crazy" did it for me! That Linn beat, that keyboard riff, how cool The Time looked and this wierd, pretty little black man throwing down on a guitar!! I was immediately hooked!
