Tell me what standard and norm Prince has established behind him that didn't exist before ????

I really wanna know... lol

I'm not american and I do not master your language as well as you do but it seems to me you do not understand the definition of norm & standard.

You say Hendrix set a norm in guitar playing which is complete bullshit. What norm ? To take drugs and die at a young age. It had been done before. He was a genius but reducing guitar playing to Hendrix only is plain absurd and is narrow minded.

Springsteen used to play sometimes 5 hours straight on stage with the E street band. Must it become a norm for regular concerts ?

You're using these two words without knowing what they mean in the first place so the discussion is absolutely impossible.

In France we call people like you "insects sodomizers".

Ok,
I think we have a problem here...

Sarkosyman seems to be a pretty ignorant dude ... A Prince fanatic... A french guy who probably discovered african american music for the very first time by listening to Prince...

This french guy knows absolutely nothing about african american culture and ALL the various african american artists who have influenced prince in his career.

From this point of you, it explains clearly why the french man thinks that Jimi hendrix is only known for "taking drugs and dying at a young age. It had been done before."

If you ignore the standard and norm, Jimi has set for others.

I think I can't do nothing for you...

Thank you... rolleyes

Stop insulting him for being French. It seems you are rather ignorant yourself, or you would know that there are many, many people of African origin in France who consider themselves French and are making their very own music.

It's not possible to live in France and not hear this native French Black music.

Black American musicians have a long tradition of living and playing in France... many moved over here in the 1920s to escape American prejudice.

I love it when people show clearly their ignorance like you do.

Miles Davis, Coltrane, Ellington,JB, Hendrix as many other american black musicians are far more respected over here than they are back in the USA. And believe me I have absolutely nothing against America. It is just a fact.
And I did grow up with their music at home.
And yes I think Prince is simply one of them : a genius. lol

No, not at all....
You clearly showed your stupidity by ignoring the fact that Prince has been influenced by a lot of great african american artists of the past...

Black music didn't start with Prince... There were a lot of great artists before him who paved the way for him and others...

And again, claiming that Jimi Hendrix is known "for taking drugs and dying young... "

This is the stupidest and dumbest statement ever...

You have a strange way to completely transform what people say and to ignore intentionally the context. Weird, isn't it ?

1) You need to learn to read urgently if you read anywhere that I wrote that Prince had not been influenced by many otehr artists before him ?!!! Are you dumb or what ?
I said that the artists who have influenced him have themselves been influenced by others before. And I stated that it's the lack of culture that many people like you here suffer from thta make them ignore who influenced Miles, Coltrane, JB, Hendrix and others in the first place as well.

2) Hendrix was a genius at what he did best. he has created his own vision, his own way of playing the guitar.
It is one way though. There are plenty of other guitar players I admire as much if not more than him like Django Reinhardt, Rafael Baptista Rabello or Wes Montgomery.

3) You've been caught in your xenophobia. Don't try to come up with lame excuses.

Because the man has an unpronounceable username, and since he constantly mentions his country (with a lot of arrogance). I decided to call him ironically "the french man".

Easier than sarkozyiszeman... rolleyes

And I don't talk about his arrogance... lol

Please, this guy trully thinks he's the shit, look how he talks... He's completely full of himself and pretends to know everything.

Look how he pretends to be the son of a violonist in the Orchestre symphonique de l'Opéra de Paris and all that.

Oh really ?
OK, I have a question for you : WHERE DID I IGNORE THE FACT THAT THE ARTISTS WHO HAVE INFLUENCED PRINCE HAVE BEEN INFLUENCED BY OTHERS ????

I really want you to tell me exactly where did I cleary and specifically ignore this fact.

Because I can't remember where I did say something like that. But Go check your first post in this thread, you did quote one of my message. And if you can read you can see that I CLEARLY STATED "Everybody is influenced by others artists. "

I've never denied or ignored anything.

Or maybe you are so full of yourself that you didn't even take time to carefully read the post that you did quote in the first place.

Now you can say what you want, but this statement alone shows how arrogant and ignorant you are.

And you clearly REFUSE to aknowledge the FACT that Jimi did set a standard for guitar players. From performing to producing. Jimi is definitely a true originator and one of the biggest influence in Music.

Something we can't say for Prince.

Hendrix, Hendrix, Hendrix, blablabla, Hendrix, and Hendrix and again blablabla Hendrix !

Woaw. What a culture ? Have you ever listened to other great guitar players who came before Hendrix ?

Now... What is your problem ? The fact that Prince is a genius ? Waow. What a scoop ?!!!
If by playing many instruments and being world class at several of them, if by being his own producer, arranger, composer and performer by mastering studio technologies, if by creating a unique sound (Minneapolis sound), if by being absolutely unique on stage and reinventing his sound tour after tour, if by having released several albums considered as some of the most innovative for the last 30 years, if by having no limit between white and black music, jazz, soul, funk, soul, rock... all genres of music, if by reinventing the music business over the years by screwing the system up from inside, if all that is not pure genius, if it is not setting standards, then eek .

And if you want to strictly talk about guitar. The man who played the guitar solos on the 21st (I was there) on Love is a losing game is one of the best EVER. eek

I find it a bit sad that Americans don't pay any attention to what's going on in the world... I doubt you'd be offended by an American on the org who is proud of his or her country.

"Sarkozy" is the new French president, which I'm sure some American people here know. And that name is Hungarian, by the way. lol

It's really not that hard. Anyway, it's not uncommon here in France to have a professional musician in the family. Or next door.
