I have Nero BurningRom & MusicMatch Jukebox. The Nero confuses the living hell out of me. Music Match will do it, but it seems to record the music in real time - WTF???

I know on a Mac you can just drag & drop (though you risk transfering it @ the wrong rate & the sound can be jacked) but there's GOTTA be an easier way for me to do this on a PC. Thoughts? Thanks for any & all input - I'm new @ this, break it down like I'm in 1st grade...

1)Open Nero
2)Click on CD Drive in file browser
3)Highlight chosen track
4)Go 2 CD-Recorder and Save Track
5)It will bring up another window which says choose drive - do so!
6)Brings up another window - u don't want 2 do anything here so click cancel.
7)It takes u 2 another window which has all the tracks listed. Highlight the song u want and choose where u want 2 save this track.
8)Change file name - save as a *wav and hit save
9)It will save the track 4 u where u specified.

CSq- are you just trying to MP3 your CDs so you can play them from your hard drive? Music match will do the job fine for you!

I presume you don't want to make raw WAVs ripped from CD - that would be far too big. Just MP3ing your CD collection is easy in Musicmatch. Pop in the CD. Hit record. It works away, takes a while, and you come back later and it is done!

Encoding an MP3 takes time but it should be a lot faster than real-time recording. Was that an exaggeration perhaps?

I believe theres two ways to extract audio from CDs with Music Match Jukebox. I used to use that program when I had a really old and crappy Packard Bell computer, because the CD drive on my computer was so cheap it couldn't extract songs digitally. So I had to use the "analog" mode on MMJ which basically copies the song as its being played through your sound card. The drawback of this is you have to have the volume set just right, and if your running any other programs at the same time, it will record all the clicks and beeps from them as well.

It's very easy to extract songs from your CD and save them to your hard drive using Windows Media Player. By default it will save them in WMA format (Windows Media). I believe the more recent versions of Nero can read WMA and burn them to CD. If you would rather save them as MP3, there is a plugin for Windows Media Player that will give you the option to save the songs as MP3s as well.

Lastly, do to www.download.com and look up a program called CDEx, its free and does a great job of "ripping" mp3s.

CalhounSq - I have MusicMatch Plus.

To record from cd: hit the red record button your player, it'll bring up a recorder...put a checkmark on the songs you want to record...then push record...the songs are then filed under "Artist" in your Library.

In order to burn a cd, just put the songs you want into a playlist (play the songs), then under the playlist window, hit the "Burn" button, which will pull up a burner, then select "Audio CD" or "MP3" and it will burn onto a CD-R what ever type of file you selected.

I have NERO too, but don't use it.

I got Nero to work, but I tried Nero Express instead of regular Nero (Express is made simpler for dummies like me!). It was easy, didn't take a whole lot of time. SWEET!

The problem with Music Match is it wouldn't let me choose the drive I wanted to save to (or I just couldn't figure out how to direct it there) & I'm saving all this stuff on an external drive.

My only question now: is there any difference between saving the file as an .mp3 vs a .wav file? Making a .wav is much faster, I just wonder about the quality once I burn it back to CD. I'll poke around mp3.com or cnet to figure that out.
