Whatever happened to Prince's Bodyguard from Purple Rain? Did he die or does he still work for prince?

He was so much a part of Prince's image back then.

Didnt Prince get rid of him in about 1985/86 because the guy had a heroin problem.

Probably, I was never sure why he got rid of him or what. I do know the Enquirer story had to really hurt Prince badly. One of the wierdest quirks with P though is that as I've said before "he is the most selfish and most generous person". He kept chick on payroll long after being dismissed. Hell, he regularly underpaid his best musicians.

I remembering reading somewhere that big Chick was fired because he called him a little prick to his face. Old Friends 4 Sale, the original version anyway has to be inspired by him selling his story to the Enquirer. Didn't Prince do a benefit for him after he died to pay for the funeral, something like that?

Yes he did, rolling stone covered it and Prince said something like "chick is in a better place". Chick must have been one of the very few people to really earn Prince's trust. Most people he breaks with never are heard of again in his world.

As I said in that "WTF pics" thread, I really miss those days when Big Chick was Prince´s bodyguard. He became some sort of semi-celebrity himself and I think it was very cool how he would carry Prince on his back or shoulders during award shows.
As far as I know, none of the biographies on Prince ever mentioned heroin...cocaine, yes, but not heroin.
I think the two of made made a very interesting contrast, physically, visually and culturally, and he is in my opinion one of the most famous bodyguards in the world, if not the most famous bodyguard ( together with Mr.T).
His look was very cool too...he looked like a rough version of Santa Claus.
I love those pics of him with Prince in that "WTF pics" thread where he´s got that "I´m nearly famous" button on his suspenders.
His outfits, his attitude, the contrast between him and Prince, the almost symbiotic partnership they had and his highly interesting biography ( see Dave Hill´s book Prince-A Pop Life ) made him one of the most fascinating and enigmatic bodyguards ever.
These days , his bodyguards seem to come and go after a couple of years ( see Aaron, Trevor or that new, Asian looking guy, ) so it was kinda cool when he had some sort of his own, self created little "Prince world " around him.
